John McCain To Resign Senate Seat on the 4th of July, Says Aide. Cindy McCain Offered his Seat

Former Republican Nominee for President wants to avoid a defeat for Trump's SCOTUS nominee

Cindy McCain has been offered her husband's Senate seat

Senator John McCain will resign his US Senate seat on July 4, 2018, says an aide who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the press.

"In the end, it was about Kennedy resigning from the Supreme Court," said the aide. "Confirming a (SCOTUS) replacement before the election is considered in the interest of the national Republican party, so that it doesn't become an issue for Dems to run on in every race," said the aide, meaning every race for Senate or Congress.

The Aide indicated that the Senator wanted to wait until June 1 to resign, so that his seat would not be on the ballot along with retiring Jeff Flake. Republican Gov. Doug Ducey will appoint a Senator to serve until the 2020 election.

The aide said that Ducey has quietly offered McCain's seat to Cindy, but the 64 year old wife of Senator John McCain has made no decision as of yet. "Understandably, she doesn't want to think about it," he added.

The soon to be widow should be at her husband’s side.

That seat belongs to McQueeg, not the voters of Arizona, and HE gets to choose his successor, not them.

Hi Sarah, this Senator McCain’s assistant, hope things are going well.

John wanted his knife back...the one that’s embedded in your back.

Proposed Constitutional amendment:

No office vacated by virtue the holder's death, infirmity or removal shall be occupied by an immediate relative for either the remainder of that partial term or for one full subsequent term.

That is, a cooling off period to combat corrupt sympathy votes.

"wanted to wait until June 1 to resign, so that his seat would not be on the ballot"

He wants his successor appointed, not elected.

I’m at the hospital right now with my son who has brain cancer. With all the drugs and chemo he doesn’t make much sense. McCain is in the final stages of his. I doubt he knows much.

”How low AZ sunk since the departure of AZ governor Jan Brewer.”

Speaking of Jan, I wonder what she’s up to these days? I’d rather see her offered this seat than another McCain.

“Well that stinks but just the fact that Arizona managed to elect both Juan McCain and Flakey Jeff tells me Arizona is gone.”

Lovely. The last frontier...land of the Apache, Navajo, Arizona Rangers, Barry Goldwater etc. perhaps terminally contaminated by the leaking septic tank that is her neighbor California.

Why would Cindy even be considered as long as Juan is still living? Does anyone think she’d leave him in Arizona and go to DC to represent Arizona? And Mitch has canceled the August recess which puts an even greater demand on senators to be in DC with no breaks for several months.

Good and the seat should go up for a vote.

*********

And it will in 2020. Until then an appointee serves.

Yeah, at least in Illinois when a U.S. Senate seat becomes vacant, the governor gives equal chances to all who are interested in buying that seat.

None of this giving the seat to the guy's wife.

It's the Chicago Way.

So sorry to hear of your son’s condition. No parent should have to experience such. My prayers go up, FRiend.

Just checked the AZ Republican Governor primary (Ducey vs Bennett) and is 8/28/18.

Which means, if McCain quits 7/4, Ducey would fatally damage his chances with Republican voters on 8/28.

The questions are 1) whether the non-GOP/unaffiliated voters who always save Senator McCain's bacon can save Governor Ducey’s and 2) if they can, would Ducey dare risk it?

I believe Ducey has specifically said that Cindy will NOT be chosen.

Let's hope it's an okey doke, and once No Name resigns Ducey will be all like, "Wait. did I say that?"

Is it possible for the people of Arizona to recall McCain and hold a special election? They shouldn't be allowed to pass on their seat to anyone, without the consent of the voters. The egomaniac Mccain thinks he's a king.
