John McCain To Resign Senate Seat on the 4th of July, Says Aide. Cindy McCain Offered his Seat

Former Republican Nominee for President wants to avoid a defeat for Trump's SCOTUS nominee

Cindy McCain has been offered her husband's Senate seat

Senator John McCain will resign his US Senate seat on July 4, 2018, says an aide who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the press.

"In the end, it was about Kennedy resigning from the Supreme Court," said the aide. "Confirming a (SCOTUS) replacement before the election is considered in the interest of the national Republican party, so that it doesn't become an issue for Dems to run on in every race," said the aide, meaning every race for Senate or Congress.

The Aide indicated that the Senator wanted to wait until June 1 to resign, so that his seat would not be on the ballot along with retiring Jeff Flake. Republican Gov. Doug Ducey will appoint a Senator to serve until the 2020 election.

The aide said that Ducey has quietly offered McCain's seat to Cindy, but the 64 year old wife of Senator John McCain has made no decision as of yet. "Understandably, she doesn't want to think about it," he added.

This tit-for-tat is not how a Senate seat should be bought and sold. The AZ Governor is a traitor if he were to deal like this.

Rod Blagojevich is sitting in jail without his toupee over taking bribes for Obama's vacated Senate seat. Surely there is an exchange of "value" in such a deal as this.

So sorry, shelterguy. God bless you both, and all your family. Lord, hear our prayer!

"She didn't marry him, she married his political power or probability of achieving it."

just the opposite...

as I understand it, Cindy's family were already wheeler/dealers in Arizona when Johnny came marching home and johnny grabbed the golden ring for his future...he married Cindy for what she could do for him...she was younger and skinnier than his patient wife but I'm sure he figured "collateral damage"...

AZ Republican Governor primary (Ducey vs Bennett)... is 8/28/18. Which means, if McCain quits 7/4, Ducey would fatally damage his chances with Republican voters on 8/28...

...if he appoints Cindy.

Here is Governor Ducey's email page:https://azgovernor.gov

Cindy McCain has been offered her husband's Senate seat... to serve until the 2020 election.
She'll like the prescription drug coverage. Thanks COUNTrecount.

That is one puke-inducing picture you paint, Al.

I don’t care if he goes to meet his maker or not, but PLEASE

No one said it was. It is the governor's decision and he can appoint anyone he wants. There is nothing in the Constitution that prevents appointing the wife to a seat. It does not change the nature of the republic and I assume you know it is temporary until the 2020 election in which the voters of AZ will choose someone for the remainder two years of his term.

My gosh this place is no different than the snowflakes over on the other side. Get a grip.

The people didn’t elect “Cindy McCain” that’s how he is going around the people.

Sigh. Usually appointing the wife of a deceased senator (which is common) is usually very popular with the voters. It is only here that everyone is freaking out, thinking it is the end of the country as we know it. Talk about over reaction - take a pill.

I read an article in the Washington Times, or Post that came out saying that yes zero was a Manchurian candidate.

I was like Whaaaaa? I had to pinch myself and re-read the article to make sure I didn’t imagine it.

Gee. The governor is going to appoint SOMEONE. That person won’t be elected either. Lame. AND IT’S TEMPORARY.

You do understand someone will fill the seat and it will not get to the voters until 2020 - then the voters can decide who they want to serve the remaining two years.

The governor is following state law.....my gosh, what don't you understand???

You do understand it is temporary, correct?

In the bigger picture Barrack Hussein Obama was only temporary in his 8 years but look at the damage he has done. You do realize she would thwart Trump every chance she had until 2020, in which time Arizona might be idiotic enough to actually re-elect her.

"The first time a Republican president was elected this century, they said he didn't really win. The Supreme Court gave him the election."

Wrong. The Supreme Court stopped the Demonrats from stealing the election from Bush43!

The left is attempting to muddy the waters with a conservative prescident
That they can claim is same as Trump nominating and confirming new ScJ.
Apples and oranges though.

Then everyone who has entered Congress is temporary by your definition. What a silly argument...incredibly silly. You don't know how she will vote. You are just guessing. Usually non politician wives are somewhat maleable, too. The governor will appoint someone and you really won't know how that person will vote if it is not Cindy.

This republic will survive one senator who is temporarily appointed and if the republic can't survive her two years in the Senate, then we aren't much a republic to save.
