Donald Trump said on Friday he plans to announce his nominee for a forthcoming vacancy on the supreme court on 9 July – a lightning-quick move to replace the retiring swing vote Justice Anthony Kennedy, 81.
Speaking aboard Air Force One en route to his private golf club in New Jersey on Friday afternoon, the president announced that he has five finalists, including two women, out of the shortlist of 25 names that had been previously circulated.
Speaking to reporters on the plane from Washington DC, Trump said he may interview one or two contenders for the nomination this weekend in New Jersey.
“I’ve got it narrowed to about five,” he said.
Of Roe v Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion in the US, he said: “I’m not going to ask them that question.”

I’m thinking Thomas might stick around, this will be a historic court. On the other hand has anyone else thought Roberts might resign? If ALL the dirt comes out and Roberts acted from a threat against exposing his kids’ adoption, he would be forced to resign. This court would go down in history as the Trump Court.

The left is going to fight this tooth and nail. They want a Stalin type put in that position, not someone who might actually believe in the real Constitution, as written, not as a liberal judge determines.
Any older conservative would do the country a favor by retiring and allowing Trump to choose a younger person to serve thirty more years !

The left is already busy looking up dirt on the list. They will stop at nothing to destroy the next nominee. I hope he/she is ready for the mean, vicious attacks that are coming. A colonoscopy is nothing compared to the intrusive anal exam that is coming.

Judge Napolitano? Are you serious? For one thing, he was a Never Trumper during the election. He even wrote an article arguing that there was no real difference between Trump and Hillary. I also remember him praising Hillary to the hilt after one of her debates with Trump.
Beyond this, he’s far too old (almost 70). Plus, delving into his private life might prove controversial for some of Trump’s evangelical supporters. Although he has neither confirmed nor denied it, it is widely believed that the late James Sheil was his “life partner.”
