Trump to announce supreme court pick on 9 July

Donald Trump said on Friday he plans to announce his nominee for a forthcoming vacancy on the supreme court on 9 July – a lightning-quick move to replace the retiring swing vote Justice Anthony Kennedy, 81.

Speaking aboard Air Force One en route to his private golf club in New Jersey on Friday afternoon, the president announced that he has five finalists, including two women, out of the shortlist of 25 names that had been previously circulated.

Speaking to reporters on the plane from Washington DC, Trump said he may interview one or two contenders for the nomination this weekend in New Jersey.

“I’ve got it narrowed to about five,” he said.

Of Roe v Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion in the US, he said: “I’m not going to ask them that question.”

So who is the Kennedy-style judge, planted here by the Rinos as a fake conservative?

Of course,a total overturn of Roe might be a mistake. Wouldn’t accomplish much and the backlash would last a decade or longer

Nah, the overturn of Roe would be the most overhyped, overblown thing since the Y2K bug. The half the states that hate abortion would ban it, and few in those states would care. Abortion would remain legal in all the big blue states, and the libs would soon forget they ever worried about it.

I just watched fat slob Ted’s “Borking”. What despicable lie after lie. I am afraid these hearings are going to top that pathetic performance.

well....we’re stuck with 4 dangerously anti-American communist ideologues on the court ... (to put it succinctly).....
Kennedy was sort of a ‘moderate’... someone I would not have selected but whose presence on the court didn’t cause me to lose too much sleep
We very much need someone more loyal to the USA Constitution now....and when... praying...PDJT can replace those four “Enemies Within” who almost routinely trash the Constitution and our liberties.
When we those 4 get replaced.. is the Big Question?

What would you suggest re: Roe?

Phyllis Schlafly’s son was against Diane Sykes last time.

If you’re talking about Barrett, she’s a MILF! I love mature women. Yeah I know “based on qualifications, conservative leaning blah blah” ...

I don’t think Roberts would overturn Roe. Won’t strike down state laws ... Except the few states that do a total ban

5-4 to overturn Roe is tenuous
7-2 would be great

Casey v. Planned Parenthood created a backlash which helped Slick willie in ‘92

Thapar and the KY guy DON’T seem conservative.

I don’t want another woman, but Larson seems most conservative.

I made the mistake of clicking on an article about Barrett on National Review. They just never give up, do they? A couple of quotes:

“In an America of 300 million people, the likelihood of finding a new justice with Kennedy’s self-regard is near zero. After all, Donald Trump is unlikely to appoint himself.”

“Millions of Republicans held their noses and voted for Trump because they felt it was necessary to protect the liberty to practice their faith. The fight over Barrett’s confirmation would almost certainly build trust between President Trump and social conservatives.”

Michael Brendan Dougherty laces his article with this stuff while imploring the President to pick Barrett. Maybe if you guys weren’t such relentless s###bags, you’d actually have the President’s ear.

Judge Andrew Napolitano has a strong shot of getting it.

The Judge is very Conservative/Libertarian. He’s a big follower of the U.S. Constitution.

I would be very happy with this pick.
