It's come to this: according to some, people should be picking their casual dining choices based on their politics.
NPR published an opinion piece by writer Monique Truong that claims in the headline that it is "hypocrisy" for administration members who support President Trump's way of handling the long-ignored border crisis to eat at Mexican restaurants. These are people who work for the president, of course, so they are essentially being taken to task for doing their jobs.
Truong considers recent forays to Mexican food dining establishments by administration policy adviser Stephen Miller and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to be a "spectacle" that is "utterly galling to many Americans who object" to the recent policy of dealing with felony immigration offenders, which the president ended this week.
Truong acknowledges the pervasiveness of "Mexican-inspired" food in the United States. I'm from Tucson, it's not called "Mexican food" here, it's just "food." She concedes that it is now part of the "American table" but sternly lectures that we should be "appalled" that people who aren't on board with open borders and illegal immigration should choose to spend their hard-earned money at a Mexican restaurant. Her tortured logic asserts that since Mexican restaurants have "back-of-the-house" staff that "came from Mexico or Central America, with or without documents," people who oppose illegal immigration are experiencing a "disconnect" when dining at these establishments.
I happen to be of German heritage, and I can tell you I’m very offended. I’d scream some German curse words but I don’t know any.
Then these NPR people are hypocrites for using cell phones, because cell phones were invented by Jews, and everyone knows Jews are an oppressor people.
They should forfeit their phones or immediately stop using them.
Several Mexican owned restaurants here in Indiana have been fined big bucks for failure to pay payroll taxes.
That’s what happens when they hire mainly illegals.
Local news rag near me were having orgasms announcing the opening of a new mex eatery downtown. A week later, it came out that the new owners couldn’t get a liquor license ....because they were here illegally
Whatta bout Tequila Hall Brass bands?
In what way is it hypocrisy?
If they had been criticizing others for eating in Mexican restaurants, then eating in Mexican restaurants themselves, that would be hypocrisy.
Well, since there is very little Mexican food in America this isn’t a probem.
There is food that is CALLED “Mexican Food” but for the most part isn’t even close.
Just b/c you wrap something in a tortilla that doesn’t make it “Mexican.”
1. radical liberal feminazis are refusing to serve Trump staffers in their restaurants. (Red Hen)
2. normal people are accused of being racist or of cultural appropriation when they eat in a restaurant that isn’t officially designated “American.”
3. liberals are trashed for eating in restaurants (Chick Fil A) whose CEO doesn’t bow down to leftist dogmas.
Where the f*ck are we supposed to eat?
And send this vietnamese commie back to ho chi minh
Mexican food ain’t rocket science.
Wife & I can prepare at home anything on the menu at our favorite Mexican place.
The “proud” idiocy of NPR just boggles the mind. How such a stupid group could be given such financial aid is beyond logic.
The United States of America is actually FED and kept alive by the constant consumption of FOREIGN FOOD.
Americans fill CHINESE, JAPANESE, THAI, KOREAN, ITALIAN, GREEK, GERMAN, SWEDISH, RUSSIAN and even AMERICAN restaurant every day of the year, in addition to my favorite KOSHER delicatessen.
We eat the food we enjoy, no matter where it originated and no matter when it came to this country with historic immigration.
The fact that NPR (No Prevailing Rationale) wants to make food a political statement shows it’s time is past.
Then democrats are hypocrites for celebrating Mother’s Day.
“The owner and original chef of the Mexican restaurant when Nielsen ate is a Lebanese Arab Christian.”
Yeah, and when I recently at at an Italian Restaurant in Lafayette, CA and asked the Italian host where his chef came from, a guy in the kitchen yelled out Cuernavaca, Mexico! And one of the best Italian Restaurants in Carmel, CA is owned by a Mexican who has a Mexican chef. Go Figure!
Monique Truong is not Mexican. She is guilty of cultural appropriation for writing about Mexican restaurants or about the Mexican/US border, or about Mexican people.
Monique Truong is a hypocritical bigot for writing about anything Mexican. She has no right to do that. She is a COMMIE RACIST BIGOT. Shame! Shame! Shame!
So sad.
I keep forgetting drool-level stupidity is an observable symptom of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
She just proves that its not about Mexican immigrants for these leftists who want to undermine our USA, but about ILLEGAL aliens.
DEFUND these biased bastards !!!!
“Monique Truong is not Mexican.”
NO, she is a refugee from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam now living in NYC.
Thanks for the laugh.
Liberals, esp immigrants, are HYPOCRITES for living in America!!
How’s that, you stupid b****
