President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday that he says will keep migrant families together during detention on the U.S.-Mexico border.
The president will not abandon his "zero tolerance" policy of criminally prosecuting all adults who cross U.S. borders illegally.
Earlier, he signaled he would sign a measure to stop his administration's splitting of migrant families.
"I'll be signing something in a little while that's going to do that," he told reporters during a White House event after saying he wanted families to be kept together. "I'll be doing something that's somewhat pre-emptive and ultimately will be matched by legislation I'm sure."
Trump added: "We're keeping families together, but we have to keep our borders strong. We will be overrun with crime and with people that should not be in our country."
The order is expected to allow families to be housed together even while adults in the family are being detained or prosecuted for crossing the U.S. border illegally or for seeking asylum at the border outside of a designated border entry point.

Only one reason the Deep State has put a cone of silence around violence against children in Mexico and Central America. They helped cause it. MS-13 is their baby. Mexicans and Canadians caught illegally entering our country can be either held and charged or immediately returned to their country. Children can be held 20 days by law while relatives or a foster home is found.
Those from nations other than Canada or Mexico who are asylum seekers can be either held until asylum is granted or if in the interview it is determined they don’t qualify (90%+ don’t) they can be sent back to their home country.
There is no actual catch and release law except where it involves children and they are not just allowed to walk out the door.catch and release has been handled differently by each of the past Admin. including this one.

I have been also. I saw it as caving. It’s already been determined there will be less crossings if they know they will be separated. And this just negates everything the Department of Homeland Security secretary said – and she made a great case for keeping them separated.
The best case being, it forces Congress to do something. Now they won’t do a damned thing.
