LOL...Economy is roaring at 4 to 5% annual growth and all they can muster is 1% same store growth?

Is it because people suddenly tired of overpriced coffee beverages?

Sure. That HAS to be it. There’s no other explanation.

It would be great if WE could take them out Grandi-Like. Maybe some Democrats out there know what’s going on.

It is so simple to destroy a thriving business in America. Just put liberal Social Justice Warriors in charge of any business from Pro Football, GE to Starbucks!

As a Capitalist Pig, it pains me to wish doom on anyone contributing to the American economy, but I really, really wouldn’t mind if these idiots go completely under and soon....

Turns out coliform bacteria on the walls isn’t a sales boon. Who knew?

Their coffee was overrated anyway. It could be folks are waking up to that, or maybe just mixing liberalism with coffee makes it not taste very good.

I’m thinking no one wants to get coffee at the new homeless shelter/needle exchange locations they’ve now established.

I would suggest this. If you go to Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, BK, etc....they all went and added premium coffee instead of that crappy cheap stuff, and they brought to pricing to still half of what Starbucks charges. Even the small non-franchise coffee shops went to premium coffee .
So why would I go and pay some ridiculous price?

I was in the Detroit Airport last year waiting and needed a non-sugar ice tea. So I walk into Starbucks there and ordered the large sized black tea (non-sugared). It was some ridiculous price of $3.90 I think. If you go to a regular McDonald’s...if they have the unsugared stuff....it’s usually never more than $1.29 for the jumbo size.

Pricing-wise, they’ve got too much competition to stay in business. I would bet on 30-percent of all Starbucks shops closing within five years.

Couldn’t happen to a more deserving company.

I have at least 3 SBs within 5 minutes of the house, and they’re always busy enough to screw up the surrounding traffic. Unfortunately, I think they’re going to be just fine for a while yet.

Hey, close all Starbucks and use them as illegal shelters.

Starbucks: home of well burnt, overpriced beverage they mistakenly call 'coffee.'

If you're going to sell crappy but trendy coffee at exorbitant prices, at least make the visit pleasant for the paying customers.
And don't piss them off politically either.

At the end of the day, Starbucks is a fad whose time is coming to a close. $15 per hour minimum wages in its most lucrative markets are pushing it along to its grave. The politics don’t help but I think the real issue is that people are getting tired of paying Starbucks prices and competition has been tough on them.

They’re going to leave the restrooms of the closed stores open though, aren’t they?
