God, guns and Russia. Those were among the topics Gov Greg Abbott touched on Friday, when speaking to thousands of Republicans gathered for their every-other-year state convention, this time at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. "If Texas was its own country," Abbott said, when he was interrupted by large cheers. "Let me rephrase that. If Texas was its own country again, we'd have the 10th largest economy in the entire world. "The Texas economy alone is larger than Russia's," he said with a grin. "And that makes me more powerful than Putin."

Vlad has a few nuclear weapons which should count in his favor.
We just got our own gold repository.
rock on Greg!
Gov. Abbott:
“If Texas was its own country again, we’d have the 10th largest economy in the entire world
“
Texas was one of the first states to come out of the great recession .
I like Governor Abbot’s style-totally no bulls***, plenty of Texas pride-and I pray that Texas does become its own country -again-if the US ever is unfortunate enough to have another democrat-or RINO for POTUS-get us the hell out of there so our economy and lives can’t be trashed like it all was from 2008 to 2016...
Texas has a battleship and an aircraft carrier.
Putin has nukes and a huge military.
Abbott is a good, decent, respectable governor who gets things done.
Why take a nothing burger sound bite and make trouble with it?
This is what liberals do.
Between all of the military bases in Texas it’s fair to say that Texas has quite a few nukes, as well.
And unlike those in Russia the majority of the nukes in Texas are functional.
Meaning Texas just might outgun Russia.
Never trust the Russians...never.
There is that pesky launch authority thingy...
He’s making a point.
“. . . goeth before a fall.” It is true. It is best not broadcast.
No, the US government has military bases.
“No, the US government has military bases.”
For now.

Does Texas have a Wall?
It has a couple of rusty strands of barbed wire here and there. Rep. Kay Bailey Hutchinson got her panties in a wad the last time we were supposed to get a wall and opened us up to law suits against it.
Yeah, the battleship is a state park in Houston and the aircraft carrier is a museum rusting away next to the state aquarium in Corpus Christi. I doubt Putin is very scared of either.
Hey, if you’re friends with the governor, he can appoint you an Admiral of the Texas Navy and send you nice certificate suitable for framing.
I love our TX Governor. Has such a great sense of humor and loves TX and our country. Wonder how difficult it must be to live in a wheelchair most of your life.
#2 isn't good.
