Inland lake where Christians believe Jesus walked on water has reached its lowest level in a century
The shrinking Sea of Galilee, the inland lake where Christians believe Jesus walked on water, is to be topped up with desalinated seawater.
A plan given Israeli cabinet approval will pump 100 million cubic metres of water annually by 2022 into the lake in the Galilee region, said Yechezkel Lifshitz, from the countrys energy and water ministry.
In 2017 Israels water authority said the sea, hit by years of drought, had reached its lowest level in a century.
Situated 200 metres (656ft) below sea level and 28 miles (45km) from the coast, the Sea of Galilee is mentioned in the bible as the site of a number of Jesuss miracles.
Known in Hebrew as Lake Kinneret, it covers an area of roughly 62 square miles (160 sq km). Ten years ago it provided 400m cubic metres a year of fresh water and was the countrys largest freshwater reserve.
But a series of dry winters have reduced its level to such an extent that pumping had to be limited to 30-40m cubic metres a year.
Israel has managed to escape water cuts through the use of five desalination plants built along the Mediterranean coast. Lifshitz said they supplied 670m cubic metres annually 80% of drinking water consumed by Israeli households.
He said two more plants would be built to serve the new project: one in the Galilee and another south of Jerusalem. The water would then be pumped into the lakes tributaries in northern Israel.

If HE walked on a dried up lake bed ,the diciples were in a boat on dry land.

Put it back in the Mediterranean, I imagine. Would not have a noticeable impact on salinity, given the size of that body of water.
They could sell it or dump it back into the ocean.
When Jesus returns, a river running from the temple mount will run into the Dead Sea, filling it to the brim with fresh water.
Zechariah 14:8
Israel has, obviously, an Eastern Mediterranean climate. This is the basically the same climate as Southern California. Long dry spells and violent deluges are not out of the ordinary.
California has ample water from rainfall but they don’t conserve it in behind dams. Most of the natural rainfall is allowed to run into the sea. They are very poor stewards.
Package and sell it as Kosher refined sea salt. At you neighborhood grocer.
So that's why they were having such trouble catching fish!
Old joke: The Pope visited the U.S. and wanted to go on a boat ride, so Trump arranged it. While on the boat the Pope's hat blew off, so they stopped the boat, Trump walked over and fetched the hat. The headline on CNN the next day was, "Trump Can't Swim!!!".
Nope. As a matter of fact, they are providing the technology to other countries, for free. The Israelis are showing California water utilities how to use this technology. Too bad so many people are anti-Semitic or anti-Israel and unaccepting of the help and technology developed solely by Israel.
That is also true. Now they want to limit everyone to 50 gallons a day per person, instead of actually solving the problem.
Yeah, them evil Jews. You know, the folks who will take a desert and turn it into productive agricultural land.
California needs a government with some sense that will have a talk with these folk.
Sell it to folks who want to use sea salt in their cooking, or dump it back into the ocean. It's not like the amount of water they are desalinating will change the composition of the oceans.
That's actually not a bad idea. Would probably be able to get a premium for it.
Israel is the worlds leader in water resource management. They are in the midst of a drought yet they have enough clean water to fill a sea and supply drinking water to millions of islamanazis in Gaza and the West Bank. All without kalifornia style rationing.
This little Israeli buggy delivers 23 cubic meters of fresh water from the sea per day
That says something for Israel’s know-how - enough desalinated seawater to top off a significant body of water....
More than anything the incident with greenhouses tells you who the Palestinians are. These were profitable operations and were given to the palis. They were destroyed by them in just a day or two after the turnover.
