When Maxine Waters, the Democratic representative from southern Los Angeles, toured Silicon Valley during the first week of May with fellow members of the Congressional Black Caucus, she was blunt about the technology industrys lack of progress hiring black employees. Waters, standing at a lectern in front of a wall of windows at Lyfts offices in San Francisco, said she was floored to learn that black workers make up 1 or 2 percent of the workforce at several prominent tech companie

I’m guessing all Hispanics are registered as “White,” then.
yes
full employment creates wage inflation and that induces labor mobility
All that will induce forcing a solution to the illegal alien problem
I was recently at a high-tech company meeting for the senior technical people. A woman that had been recently promoted to this level was asked to introduce herself and share a bit about her background.
In doing so, she also had the nerve to tell everyone that there’s obviously a problem with diversity if you just look around the room (meaning gender in this case). Stating, “this is obviously something WE must take care of”.
She was reminded, not so subtly, on a couple of occasions that this was a meritocracy - not about diversity for the sake of it. I was glad to hear it. It seems to be the first thing that women focus on, how they need to socially engineer the company. I would never discriminate against a qualified candidate but if all things are equal, that they tend to do this is a negative.
Or black, or mixed, depending. Hispanic isn't really a "race" at all.
Over half the IT workers at my shop are Black. Some are very sharp. Some average. Some need either training or attitude adjustment. Not much different from other shops I have been at, some with many Blacks, some with few Blacks. None of them are paid at the Silicon Valley level... nor are the rest of us in my shop.
I mention the above because I do not see anyone trying to recruit any of them. I compare this to the late 90s when I frequently saw my co-workers, and me, being approached by recruiters. None of that now.
But how many non-citizens are being approached by recruiters to fill jobs that citizens won’t fill? Filling jobs often means everyone on the ladder moving up one rung so people at the bottom can get on the first rung of the ladder.
Silicon Valley does not recruit from California. It does not recruit from the US. Why is it not recruiting from the US beyond California? It recruits from the World.

I think the ‘old’ rule of thumb was ‘Hispanic was Black UNTIL it got involved in the ‘system’ and he/she magically became White.
I believe the ‘light skinned’ or as the MSM says, WHITE HISPANICS objected to their ‘placement’.
It is hard to keep up.
Good cartoon on ‘Patriot Post’ today, showing a bunch of sheep ‘staring’ at the camera with the caption being...
LIBERALS waiting for the Morning News to see whose feelings are supposedly hurt for today....
I just watched a video of some Japanese dude who says he has questions for black people and he just gets hammered and threatened as racist. So one of his questions is “Why do brack people always threaten violence?”
Then here’s Queen Maxine threatening violence rather than asking what black people can do to be more attractive to employers. Trust me, most tech companies would love to have more black employees if only they could find qualified ones who can pass a drug screen.
Poor excuses. Pay Americans competively, help with move and many will. Too many companies find easier paths and throw out excuses to justified cheap foreign labor.
Yes, and I’d wager that your hiring decisions were based on competence and character?
We had no choice - the hire HAD to perform or the entire team was in trouble. I learned a couple of interesting things along the way. In order to ensure at least a try at "diversity" we had to have a woman on every hiring team. The problem was that because there weren't as many women, they spent a disproportionate amount of time on hiring teams in addition to their real jobs, which wasn't fair to the very people we were trying to make it fair for. Another was that minorities and women who made it on pure talent were very skeptical about the applicants who they suspected of wanting a free ride. Rough, in fact.
I have to be careful because certain of them know who I am and they're still there. The company ended up getting sold with the team intact. The buyers were very lucky to get them.
Funny how they never look at qualifications - then, the 1%-2% in some of those companies would be an over-hire of them.
As Jordan Peterson puts it: Equality of Opportunity is the goal, not Equality of Outcome (which is communism).
...then these people get into management positions, where they then implement their agenda.
Thank you for your concise explanation of the problem PC mandated “diversity” hiring created for you.
We conservatives knew the incessant LIEberal clamor for “diversity” in the workplace would not end well.
I have seen nothing yet to indicate that “diversity” works!
Except, of course, for “diversity” experts who are very well paid to force “diversity” upon an unwilling population.
