Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley isn't backing down as the Justice Department rebuffs his repeated attempts to speak with the FBI agent whose interview with Michael Flynn was used to indict the ex-national security adviser in the Russia probe.
This is no ordinary criminal case, Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote in a June 6 letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Congress has a right to know the full story and to know it now.
Grassley is pressing his request anew after the DOJ once again rejected his bid to speak with FBI Agent Joe Pientka and to obtain the FBIs records of the interview.
Flynn pleaded guilty in Special Counsel Robert Muellers Russia probe to making false statements to the FBI in that interview. He also lost his job at the White House after he was said to have misled Vice President Pence about a discussion with then-Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

I generally support Grassley in this, but I'm wondering why he's looking for information in a criminal case where the defendant (Flynn) has pleaded guilty and is awaiting a sentencing hearing that has been delayed multiple times this year.
Why hasn't Flynn's legal team pushed the DOJ on this already?

Youd think he was protecting the secret Keebler recipe with all this obstruction.

I think Sessions recused on this issue so its Rosenweasel...I think some folks there are still looking for reasons to be fired so they can scream obstruction of justice (so ironic).

It’s quite obvious that the bureaucracies now consider themselves more powerful then the elected representatives.
They’re in full rebellion.
Nothing to do now except dismantle them, start over.
No one will miss them.
To: Magnatron
I think the 3 committees would like to charge obstruction of justice, and not sure why it hasn't happened already. Maybe the slow walking keeps DOJ a hair-width ahead, or maybe the committees need more than a majority vote? Obstruction of justice charges would help Trump justify firings.
To: Alberta's Child
Why hasn't Flynn's legal team pushed the DOJ on this already? I believe Flynn can still rescind his guilty plea and go back to court. He just needs a justifiable reason and he has several.

Now is the time for congress to reassert their oversight control. Find Wray and Rosenstien in contempt and send US Marshalls to arrest and jail them. Start cutting funds for their operations in areas which hurts.
Either the peoples votes really matter or they don’t. Right now the deep state is saying F the people and their vote, we run the government. This attitude never ends well for them, think French Revolution...
