Black people are unduly burdened by the expectation that we always be on our ‘best’ behavior – or be subject to punishment
n April, police swarmed four people, three black, one white, after they finished loading their luggage into a car in Rialto, California. Donisha Prendergast, one of the crew’s two black women, captured the incident on her Instagram account. The scene was anxiety-producing, with multiple squad cars barricading the residential street’s exit.
When officers arrived, the group learned a neighbor alerted law enforcement to a potential burglary at the home they had rented through Airbnb. Police audio revealed an elderly woman saying she was scared by the “strange people” with luggage who wouldn’t look at her. Oddly, she named only the three black guests as suspicious in her reports to authorities.
Prendergast and her friends, Kelly Fyffe-Marshall and Komi-Oluwa Olafimihan were deeply upset by the incident and allege their rights were violated because they were “black in a white neighborhood”.
But the homeowner, Marie Rodriguez, cleared the guests while siding with her neighbor. She told the San Bernardino Sun her temporary tenants were to blame for the misunderstanding. “It was based on their rudeness and lack of good nature that caused her to call the police. It had nothing to do with being black,” she explained.
We cannot be sure about what motivated the original 911 call, but Rodriguez’s claim highlights how black people are unduly burdened by the social expectation that we always be on our “best” behavior. It is not enough for a black person to keep to ourselves and cause no harm. We must perform deference, grace and respectability lest we be subject to a wide range of punishments.

-The black guys at starbucks refused to make a purchase even though there was a sign that said you have to make a purchase to take a seat or use the washroom.

-black woman goes to bakery six minutes after closing expects to get served anyway, cries waycism and gets two white employees fired, even though the bakery admits they did nothing wrong.
same story all the time time- blacks not obeying the rules or behaving badly and crying waycism when someone white calls them on it.

So, your assumption is that black people cannot be civilized? That their predilection is to commit violence at every turn?

If someone demanded white people get special treatment because they’re white, we’d never hear an end to the outcry from liberals.

I can’t understand why the majority of law-abiding black Americans don’t revolt against the insulting, demeaning trend that blacks somehow must be coddled like little children.

Its pointless because race relations in the US will never improve. In fact, they only continue to worsen over time. Discussing race relations is pointless because if your white, your a racist. As for the Blacks, there’s nothing to discuss. All they do is issue forth the usual talking-points harangue about institutionalized racism and white privilege, etc.

I highly suspect that many of the same things Whites get rousted for and forget about, the Black person feels is based on their skin color, and they store it away for future reference.
There once was a period of time when the Left championed a colorless society. And then they set out on a decades long journey of talking about skin color each and every day.
Just one more example of them doing exactly what they admonish others to stop doing, or declare is evil when others do it.
No black folks don’t need to be on their “best” behavior. Just being marginally civil would be good enough.
More black ( minority and ethnic) nationalism. At least police officers are not being assassinated yet in the UK. In the US, we have 28 LEOs now killed in cold blood.Black lives matter and there is in effect a demographic and civil war going on now.This is supported by the radical left Democrats in the USA.
Its to be one set of laws for minority and ethnic people and another for Caucasians, Asians and Jews.
In the USA this nationalist movement has established sanctuary cities for immigrants, where there already is a civic divide for minority and ethnic nationalism and other citizens, in effect two sets of laws.
In the USA, these are the foundations for civil war between the states and dozens of newly found city states.In the UK we have Londonistan, ruled with arcane, draconian authority by a Muslim mayor.
Soon, civil war will break out, witness the recent rapid incarceration of MP Tommy Robinson , who dared to speak out. 2 hours from arrest to imprisonment to shut him up.
Of course; generations of black Americans have been taught that the black is more important than the American. If you were bombarded daily by people telling you your skin color was your defining feature, you'd react the same way. Personally, if I were a black person in America, especially a male, I'd be POed as all get out at the left for ruining my culture and diminishing my person with all their racial politics.
And, of course, the author is lying through her teeth. Black people in NYC where I am currently, behave like everybody else - sometimes they’re quiet on the subway, sometimes they’re loud, sometimes they read the newspaper and sometimes they are falling asleep like the white guy next to them. This stupid idea that all blacks behave like Sir Anthony Eden the minute they see a white person is pure baloney. They clearly don’t even pay attention to white people! This is why I loathe, positively loathe The Guardian.

Summary recommendations for Africans:
1. Behave like civilized human beings
2. Do your part of the work.
3. Don’t be a Moocher or a slacker.
4. Don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t cheat, and don’t expect special treatment.
5. Don’t be a bully.
You need to act with sense and some intelligence and speak in the style of the majority culture, at least comprehensibly. You should not be constantly in the majority’s face with demands for special privileges and refrain also from constant accusations. All that is hard, of course, and and cultural appropriation so must not be done. It is unfair that prosperity is more likely for people who get along with the majority population but whacha gonna do?
