Watch the episode Bourdain did on West Virginia’s coal country. Maybe it was an act but I came away with the opposite view you have.
“I expect this from DU when a conservative pass away, not here. “
And that’s a problem. When confronted with ultimate evil you have to be a meaner, dirtier bastard then your enemy in order to prevail.
I never could get into his self absorbed scenario and his need to be publicly adored while showing zero kindness to any American who might disagree about things with him.
It might have been an act but he praised the people on his show about West Virginia coal country. He was very kind to them as well.
agree....
Its disherstening every time to witness how at least half this forum acts over things like this
It gives them an excuse to be what they truly are
Unhappy
“I am intensely grateful for the kindness, hospitality, and patience the people of West Virginia showed to this ignorant rube from New York City who arrived with so many of the usual preconceptions, only to have them turned on their head.”

“So instead of posting on forums, fight back! How many doors have you knocked on in your neighborhood for your Republican candidate? “
Less than none. I’ve come to the conclusion at this point in time that it is absolutely hopeless to try and change liberal minds.
I agree.
I wonder how Anthony Bourdain would react to a 300+ post thread about him on Free Republic?

He was SUPER KIND to the poor downtrodden whom he patronized. Thats the point. He was an arrogant a hole to westerners on his level and he showed some really mean streaks.
So now he will be canonized, even for whatever he suffered (depression or addiction), while he showed no human sensitivity or vulnerability that would have allowed him to reach out and receive help. It is not a good way to live, to ACT superior and mean. There IS NO EXCUSE for it.
It is ok not to consider someone a holy hero because they are dead. He didnt die trying to save someones life. I dont feel I have to eulogize everyone who passes.
And Im saddened that he chose to be mean in life rather than to open himself up with love to the world, to be kind, because maybe if he had chosen to be a nice person, he might be alive for his daughter today. People would have known he was struggling, their love might have held him from committing this murder. She might be at school or at the beach instead of sobbing in a heap on a floor somewhere. So if you want to throw me off FR for not kissing the feet of anyone who dies, please.
I thought as much in your case.
I avoid his shows like the plague but happened to stop through the automatic surfing past one where he was high and/or drunk and being so very rude and crude to the hosts and waitstaff. Could not believe that passed through the editing process.
But note the desire for “conversations”. About what? How we should compromise or something? If he had an epiphany great but a little late as it turns out.
Yes, I believe that is accurate. I fall into the last part, 1960.
And very interesting insight what has been said here about boomers. It does not seem to apply to those of us who are Christian or raised with core values.
Who, much less a chef, has any taste buds after two packs a day? Throw in a coke habit and an alcoholic...
I’m trying to show you off just trying to show you other examples of Bourdain. When he did a show on Boston he met and hung out with Howie Carr. They seemed to get a long well during the taping. Believe me I know plenty of insufferable liberal types coming from Boston. Buordain wasn’t like them.
He'd have cussed out some poor sous chef.
“Indeed. I suppose they ruled out autoerotic asphyxiation?”
He choked the wrong chicken?
