“Her life is forever broken by his selfishness.”

-
It will certainly have an impact but to say that her life is “forever broken” is a bit of a stretch.

I wonder if it was an accident, if he died as a result of auto-erotic asphyxia, like actor David Carradine and INXS band leader Michael Hutchence.

No evidence supporting that suggestion, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what happened.

Even when humans are doing his bidding?

Make sure you understand the context of the post. Don't carve out one line from it.

I expect this from DU when a conservative pass away, not here. Despite his politics, which I have the fortitude to ignore and brush off, it was his talent in story telling that got him there. I wanted to see him in North Korea, and cnn could probably pull that off than if he had stayed at food network.

Bourdain stole the original concept from Eric Blair. Orwell's read is a zillion times better, especially the (unnamed reference to Maxim's):

PS Blair - his legal name - used Orwell to shield his public ID from his educated friends/family. He died early in his 40s - some speculate from the type of experiences told in the book.

Again, a zillion times better than AB's rip-off.

“Leaving behind an 11 yr old daughter is an unforgivable sin. Her life is forever broken by his selfishness.”

Well said. People think the dead is the victim, but the living are the ones they hurt, but they don’t care.

I’m stunned. I started to like his charisma and people skills when on the Taste. His book about the truth of working in restaurant kitchens was great. But at some point his arrogance and politics made me begin to dislike him, and I stayed disliking him until today. Nevertheless, I am shocked he would kill himself. He was by far his biggest fan: maybe people who seem marinated in arrogance are really anxious and insecure the entire time.

He had a young child. Once, he was very attached to his daughter. Perhaps all these recent years of traveling all year made him break the link with his child, but no doubt he has destroyed that girl’s life. I know that having my children takes away my privilege to commit suicide.

There are two excuses we may find out about that would make me less angry at him: bipolar or other serious depression, like Kate Spade. The children of people with bipolar will eventually understand their parent was so mentally sick they didn’t have control to stay alive even for them. The other would be that he was seriously addicted to a hard drug once more, and couldn’t get off even after serious attempts.

If someone is a vulnerable, seeking, desperate human being, here is an idea: DONT TREAT PEOPLE WITH SUCH HATRED AND SUPERIORITY like Bourdain!!! If he’s been suffering, maybe he should have been more sensitive. Why was he so harsh and mean to others? Why did he choose some people to be Holy and some to be treated with utter disdain, because of how they believed or their skin color? Being arrogant and being “cool above all else” was not learning the truth about life.

He managed to travel the entire world, and bring millions along on his discoveries, and yet his number one emotion he displayed was contempt for whom he didn’t find “cool” enough. His love of whom he found in far flung peasant villages always seemed pandering to me. Remember, he was in that little hut in the middle of nowhere with a team of cameras and directors etc. He always had to be the Better White Guy. I never could get into his self absorbed scenario and his need to be publicly adored while showing zero kindness to any American who might disagree about things with him.

Just went over to that thread. Thanks for the heads up.

Whatever this all is, its bad enough that with all the money, they decided to end it themselves.

This is going to be an interesting summer. If the Awans made a deal, man.

“And how did Anthony Bourdain use the threat of force to impose his will on you?”

Liberals, progressives, democrats, the left in general...whatever the hell tou want to call them... want to “transform” America, eg destroy our cherished traditions, institutions, history etc and all things held holy. And they will stop at NOTHING to achieve this. You hadn’t noticed?

That is the first thing I thought of. It’s strange, he really loved France. Hanging himself on location in his hotel suite/room for his show seems odd too. I guess it depends on if they release specifics of how they found him. RIP.

BTT - it would be nice to just have one thread about this.

I do not understand why FR can’t dump the sidebar crap which is unorganized and useless, and put up topic headings on top where you could put one main thread about a current event or item or person (ex Anthony Bourdain) and not have 100 threads. It seems like a simple solution and yet nothing is ever done except deleting a thread that many people wrote their opinions on, not knowing it was going to be the “weaker” thread later on. This place needs serious common sense upkeep.

Any further discussion is pointless.

I knew that when I first addressed you.

My goal was to establish your lack of integrity which I think has been adequately demonstrated.

So instead of posting on forums, fight back! How many doors have you knocked on in your neighborhood for your Republican candidate?
