PHILADELPHIA EAGLES WHITE HOUSE VISIT IS OFF ... Trump Suggests He Pulled the Plug
TMZ ^ | Jun 4, 2018 | staff

Posted on 06/04/2018 4:17:55 PM PDT by Eddie01

Donald Trump has announced the plans for the Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House to celebrate the Super Bowl victory is officially OFF ... and POTUS is making it seem like it was his decision.

Instead, Trump says he will still have the United States Marine Band and the United Army Chorus playing the national anthem at 1600 Pennsylvania ... while he stands proudly and watches.

The team was scheduled to visit on Tuesday ... without several key members from the team who opted out as a way to protest Trump's stance on the national anthem.

But Trump says the "smaller delegation" of players who accepted the invite are no longer coming because "the fans deserve better."

"The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow."

"They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our country."

"The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fan planning to attend the event deserve better."

"These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony-one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem."

"I will be there at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United Army Chorus to celebrate America."

These a-hole Eagles including the a-hole owner need to just skip all of the American theatrics at every game then: no color guard, military flyovers, no flags, no anthem, no phony "salute the Vets" BS, nothing American. F-these POS. I am so disappointed because I know a good portion of the Eagles are not like this.

Many threads ago, I proposed that Trump tell the DoD: "NO DoD or .gov assets at NFL games. No JROTC, no flyovers, no ROTC color guard, NOTHING."....until the kneeling thing is done away with.

The Eagles wanted to embarrass the President by having a very small contingent show up tomorrow. Our President got wind of that and pre-emptively pulled the rug out from under them. Hope many of their season ticket holders get on the horn tomorrow and demand their tickets be refunded (those that renewed).

Next up for a dis-invite: the Golden State Warriors.

You mean, "Next up for a non-invite: the Golden State Social Justice Warriors"

75% of FB fans are Repubs which makes you wonder how stupid these players have to be.

“...National Felon League...”

Yep. IF it weren’t for the ball, most of these azzholes would be doing prison time most likely on a chain gang picking up highway trash for 25 cents/day. They are the most arrogant, unthankful, disrespectful, POSs out there. They make millions in our country and in return this is what they do. Most of em couldn’t get a real job if they tried. Maybe they should all move to Zimbabwe and play there instead. I’m sure it would make em feel a lot better and we’d never miss em.
And NFL management is a utter joke for nipping this in the bud when it started. The whole NFL should go down in bankruptcy.

Fewer than 10 Philadelphia Eagles were expected to visit Donald Trump at White House: report

https://articles.pennlive.com/philadelphiaeagles/index.ssf/2018/06/fewer_than_10_philadelphia_eag.amp

Even if President Donald Trump hadn’t rescinded the invitation for the Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House, the festivities in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday afternoon would have looked far different than in years past.

That’s because fewer than 10 members of the Eagles were expected to attend, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

“In the end, [Eagles owner] Jeff Lurie decided that he didn’t want to make it a sideshow and wanted to keep this contingent really small,” Garafolo said Monday night . “I did not get an exact number but I was told it wasn’t 20, it wasn’t 10. It was gonna be less than that. Obviously, that decision by the team and by Jeffrey Lurie did not please Donald Trump and the White House.”

This is the same NFL that said no to Dallas wearing a sticker to honor their slaughtered cops. This is the same NFL that had teams kneeling in London to our anthem and standing tall to the anthem of our Revolutionary War enemy. This is the same NFL that beats players down to severe mental illness for the sake of their billionaire owners. This is the same NFL that I despise and will never watch again. Now Mr President, please get the Dept of Defense out of the business of supporting the NFL. Why let our folks be insulted as they stand there?

IMO, in the ceremonies, Trump would be wise to also have some short mention of the fact that we are ALL aware of the fact that sometimes police act outside of their authority, they sometimes make mistakes, and a few are bad apples. Correcting these issues should be a priority for every state and local police force and police union, and that the Trump Administration encourages the states and municipalities and unions to do what they can to try to reduce these incidents while still preserving public safety and police safety, and also in ensuring that truly bad acts by police do get punished.

The Kneelers are left slack-jawed, the burden is properly left in the state, local, and union hands, and the nonsense notion of "raising awareness" is left in tatters. It also rips away from the media the notion that Trump doesn't care about the issue. Their worst attacks now will simply be "well, that's not enough (even though it is not a federal issue)."

And also allows the entertainment venues to get back to entertainment.

I’ll show what I sent to the Seahawks. As usual not even an acknowledgement that they received my email. The NFL can bite my ass for keeps.

Good day,
I just watched KOMO news and feel compelled to respond to Doug Baldwin’s remarks. While I appreciate the players’ exercise of their First Amendment rights regarding kneeling during the National Anthem I vehemently disagree with them. I’ll admit my motives are very personal as a veteran and a Gold Star family member. I sent something to this website last year and asked for all to please find another avenue of protest.

I guess that many don’t share my views on the importance of the flag and anthem but yet many fans do ( these beliefs are shared by many though and a lot of those folks are NFL (or were) fans). Please understand that the kneeling and disrespecting the flag does cause pain to those that have lost loved ones. If that does not concern you then fine, I give up, I guess you beyond help.

I agree with you Coach Carroll, it’s a shame that this has become political. Sorry to say but it’s been political all along. But please ask your players to consider that free speech does affect others, even those that you claim to care about.

Anyway, on Monday I will do what I do every Memorial Day. I will go to the Iron Mike Statue on JBLM with my wife that misses her son. There will be tears and we will leave a flag, the flag that represents his sacrifice and that of so many others. We will not protest, we will not make political hay, we will only miss and honor a loved one.

I would just ask you to consider this: come and experience this ( or come and kneel at that flag if you wish because that is what I will do for a very different reason).. By the way, I don’t gripe anonymously so my phone number is attached and I welcome your dialogue. I also don’t gripe to the media or ask for their empathy or fanfare. I just ask that you consider the pain you cause those that have given. I guess that’s all I have to say.

After being glued to the TV on Sundays watching NFL games for years I have totally lost interest. I’ll be enjoying family and other activities on Sundays this fall.

Well yeah because Coach Saban would have chopped off their testicles and kicked them off the team if they did otherwise.

Just like the boosters would have done the same to Saban if he allowed it to happen.

I would bet the someone or SOMEONE’s intended to make a political statement, and a major scene in front of the Cameras, and Trump got wind of it, cutting it off at the pass.

Gonna be some awfully disappointed media talking heads tomorrow.
