"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show," ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said Tuesday.
ABC, in a stunning move, has decided to cancel its Roseanne revival following star Roseanne Barr's racist tweet Tuesday. "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show," ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said Tuesday.
Early Tuesday, star, head writer and exec producer Barr attacked Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to former President Barack Obama, in a since-deleted tweet in which she said "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj." Barr subsequently apologized: "I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me my joke was in bad taste."
Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger also weighed in on the decision to cancel Roseanne: "There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing," he tweeted.

Barr's tweet prompted a massive outcry across social media, with thousands condeming the actress-comedian's comments and calling on ABC to cancel her series. The Disney-owned network's decision to cancel the comedy marked the first time the network has taken action in response to one of Barr's controversial tweets.
Axing the Roseanne revival was no small decision for ABC.

I made the mistake.
They were talking about Valerie Jerrett, and I saw the initials and flashed Van Jones. Not sure why I did that directly after reading Valerie Jerrett was the target.
This was my mistake, and for that reason my comments did not apply.
Folks should disregard my comments here:

I was mistaken who the target was. It was not Van Jones.
In light of this, I’d have to say I don’t see why she was canned at all. There’s no chance of racism if we’re talking about someone with White Privilege (GASP!).
The reference to “apes” is what did her in.
To bring up the Muslim Brotherhood is one thing, but Planet of the Apes? That *was* wrong, and was harmful in all respects.
She tweets some good things, but overall she seems secular humanist/Hollywood in some ways and if not now, then she was going to have a Kathy Griffin moment at some point.
“what cracks me up abc says they have morals lololol what a joke”
Cracks me up too :-).
ABC morals :
They hired a guy who hosted a TV show that featured girls on trampolines.
This same guy dressed up in blackface and performed a parodied a black NBA basketball player. This was in the early 21st century, not the 1950s, and was only a few years before ABC hired him for their new late night TV show.
Those are some morals there ABC.
ABC hired Kimmel after his success on Comedy Central’s “The Man Show”. It wasn’t his performance on “Win Ben Stein’s Money”. I supposed Kimmel’s brand of misogyny and racsim is A-OK in ABC’s book, but Roassane’s ‘racist’ remark is vile, putrid, contemptible, and is the reason for division in this nation.
Roseanne did screw up twice though :
1> It is bad taste to compare any person of color to an ape. Seriously, there was lots of garbage throughout history making the same comparisons (usually Democratic propaganda to keep their black slaves on their plantations).
2> Ms. Barr should have known that ValJar is a dead ringer for any alien on the TV show “V” and doesn’t resemble any of the Planet of the Apes characters. In fact, this is what has me pissed off about Roseanne ... if you’re gonna attack ValJar, you bring up V ... V covers every single sickening aspect of that vile woman.

At this point someone should put together a “dirty dozen” network with all the “disgraced” top-ratings-getters. O’Reilly, Roseanne, Cosby, Lauer, Charlie Rose. The “bad boys (and girl) of TV” channel. Think of the ratings.
“...they have the right to termninate their relationship wth Ms. Barr without having to give a reason.”
That they do, but what they apparently fail to realize is that those of us who watch television have a “right” to tune our televisions to other channels. On that note, I have to believe that, for some of these companies to knowingly destroy their ratings, i.e., revenue, they must have a very tolerant board of directors or funding from other sources.
Ape #1: Dear me. What are these things coming out of her nose?
One of the apes takes his binoculars out and sees Colonel Sandurz, Dark Helmet, and President Skroob coming out of Mega Maid’s nose
Ape #2: Spaceballs.
Ape #1: Oh, shit. There goes the planet.
How do I boycott a network I never watch? Same goes for Disney. I don't watch any movies or go to their theme parks. Disney gets little, if any, of my money.
’The Narrative’ is the only thing these businesses care about, and Roseannes Narrative wasnt theirs.”
Yep. Disney owns ABC, FWIW.
“Let us remember this when CW-II commences.”
Some of us have already infiltrated.
I thought it was pretty funny.
How many celebrities had their shows cancelled because they called Trump a white supremacist/a Nazi/KKK, solely because he is white and Republican?
That was sort of ridiculous. Valerie Jarrett is a lizard alien. No primate DNA at all!
I hope this costs ABC millions of lost revenue.
The woman's father:
Both qualify as black Americans. Both would have needed to tell me they were black for me to know, but they are "African-Americans". Not Iranians.
This proves once and for all that the primary objective of the mainstream media is to advance left wing ideology, NOT to maximize profits ...
Are Muslims a “race”? Are apes a “race”?
Just where is the “racism”?
We all know that some Muslims will rape just about anything, so why would the possibility of Valerie Jarrett being the product of such a union be questioned, let alone get someone fired?
FREE SPEECH. It’s in the constitution. I think it’s one of the FIRST amendments (/s) to the constitution. Pretty important to the founders and framers. It USED TO BE important to all Americans.
