Rape victim awarded $1 billion in historic jury verdict

A Georgia rape victim was awarded $1 billion in what’s believed to be the largest jury verdict ever handed down in an American assault case, according to reports Friday.

“It’s one of the biggest victories for women in the United States,” Chris Stewart, a lawyer for victim Hope Cheston, said at a press conference.

“They said a little black girl in Clayton County who was raped is worth $1 billion. That was a big win for us,” he said, according to the local station 11alive.com.

Cheston was 14 years old and visiting a friend October 2012 when she was attacked by apartment security guard Brandon Lamar Zachary in an Atlanta suburb, according to court documents cited by the station.

A civil jury ruled Tuesday that the security company that hired the guard, Crime Prevention Agency, must fork over the massive payout because it failed to properly monitor their violent worker, who had a history of bad behavior, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“Sexual assault is sexual assault. It’s not right, and it needs to be punished,” Cheston, 20, said after the verdict, according to USA Today.

It’s “life-changing” to know the jury understands her pain, she said.

LOL. And because of all the black guys in prison, the Feds pushed for laws to force companies to stop background checks and make them hire ex cons or be charged with discrimination.

The verdict is just a message from the jury to the judge that they want the company severely punished.

Liberals undermine employers’ ability to enforce standards like “safe employee” by saying “you’re not allowed to check criminal records of applicants”.

How about we stop defining this criminal act from the perverts position and call it an assult, often violent.

Frankly we say more about the criminals than we do the victim being assulted.

They will never be able to collect all that. I feel bad for the girl, but 1 billion? Does any company have that much available cash?

If they're driven into bankruptcy the victim might not get a dime.

If I could actually collect on an award like that, I would volunteer to be raped. The point is that virtue signaling juries that award damages to make an emotional or political point, rather than recompense actual loss, are a danger to justice.

The jury had to be “whistlin’ Dixie”. No way will the victim get anything close to a billion.

It is an extremely violent crime that impacts people forever.
My guess is the “other side of the coin” is how many people would be willing to be raped for $1 billion?
Just imagine the torment of awaiting the STD/HIV test panel results to be returned.

"...I would volunteer to be raped..."

What if it resulted in contracting and later dying of AIDS? Life is sufficiently dangerous without violent sexual attack.
Everyone knows these level of damages will ever be paid, yet the jury in the case must have felt something from the testimony.

Read this last night. $1 Billion dollar judgement against a company that has already gone out of business. Virtue posturing is all this is.

In another report, they went out of business in 2016.
