Senate Democrats look for traction on gas prices
The Hill ^ | 05/23/18 | Alexander Bolton

Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) is ripping the White House over high gas prices, arguing President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal is putting a pinch on middle class wallets.

“According to energy analysts and experts, President Trump’s reckless decision to pull out of the Iran deal has led to higher oil prices,” Schumer said at a press conference held at an Exxon filling station on Capitol Hill, where a gallon of regular costs $3.89.

“These higher oil prices are translating directly to soaring gas prices, something we know disproportionately hurts middle- and lower-income people,” Schumer said.

Iran can't even supply itself with gasoline, so it trades crude to other countries for gasoline (in effect). For a time Iran had a contract with India to trade crude for gold, in an attempt to break the stranglehold of sanctions. Not enough was done to crack the whip on countries which allowed iran to elude sanctions. Or to obliterate the mullahcracy, for that matter.

This morning I paid $2.89 in Alexandria, Virginia, just 8 miles from Capitol Hill. Prices have been steadily increasing lately.

Schumer? What a piece of evil.

“According to energy analysts and experts, President Trump’s reckless decision to pull out of the Iran deal has led to higher oil prices,”

Unnamed analysts and experts again? Oil is fungible. Iran is still shipping to China.

What is in Schumer's closet?

One must might be a special kind of stupid to think this won’t be a major issue with the average household this vacation season leading into the midterms. Trump would be smart to address it now (e.g., cause, affect and remedy) rather than play catch-up later.

It’s more the result of tax increases at the State level. And of course, the Blue States have it the worst.

Shouldn't this issue resonate the most in CA, where gas prices are a buck higher than anywhere else, precisely because of Dem policies?

Chuckie, it is called Supply and Demand. If you are in a booming economy and people would like to vacation someplace besides their house, they'll be driving their car to get there and when there, they might go boating, which unless you have a sailboat (and a politician to help you use the boat with their hot air), you'll need gas for the engines. Also, due to mandates (.no liberals, that is not two gays dating) we need to have a summer blend which is more expensive than winter blend.

Now, Chuckie, you got that? Should I get ConservaTeen to explain it?

Why? Everytime the consumer gets a break, the politicians raise the taxes. To put in bike lanes and walking trails.
