Friday’s outing of longtime CIA and MI6 asset Stefan Halper as an FBI asset sent to infiltrate the Trump campaign has social media abuzz today. Reactions have ranged from celebration to outrage, with little inbetween.
To recap, after two weeks of hunting for a “mole” in the Trump campaign, the New York Times and Washington Post both printed incredibly detailed descriptions of Halper – withholding all but his name, solidly corroborating a March report by the Daily Caller‘s Chuck Ross about Halper’s meetings with the Trump aides. Neither publication give Ross credit, of course.
Somehow several anti-Trump intellectuals got their wires crossed, conflating President Trump and Senate Intel Committee Chair Devin Nunes’ calls for transparency by the DOJ, with the actual media outlets that exposed Halper.
Senior Brookings Institute fellow, and James Comey’s close friend, Benjamin Wittes is beside himself – angrily tweeting: “I have a whole lot to say about how the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and the President of the United States teamed up to out an intelligence source…,” adding in a subsequent tweet “But I am too angry to write right now—and Twitter is probably not the right forum. So I’ll leave it at this for now: Important people defiled their oaths of office for these stories to appear.”
I have a whole lot to say about how the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and the President of the United States teamed up to out an intelligence source who aided our country in a properly predicated counterintelligence investigation against a hostile foreign power.

But Krugman wants the GOP to face treason charges for outing the spy in Trump’s camp, when it was the New York Times and the Washington Post that outed him.
That's why the last person convicted of treason was some Japanese-American dude who was charged in the early 1950s after he had served in the Japanese Army during World War II.
Even Julius and Ethel Rosenberg weren't charged with treason. The U.S. was never at war with the Soviet Union. They were tried and convicted on espionage charges.

An Italian newspaper named Mifsud in late Oct 2017, as the source to Papadopoulos. At the time, some folks say he was somewhere in Italy. No one has seen or heard from this guy since then. Most say (with limited fact) that he was all connected to the Russian government (not the Oligarchy). He would be in his late 50s at this point, and not as well paid off as Harper (Halper had tens of millions minimum).
My general belief is that he was picked up by Russian KGB and he’s either dead, or in a fixed situation to never appear again.
All of this...reads like some Ian Fleming ‘James Bond’ flick and fake characters plotting the downfall of the US. I think there’s probably ten individuals in this script...one is that Steele character wrote the pee-dosier.

Any informant who is paid and works for government insiders to commit treason against the very government who pays him deserves to be outed and hung with his cohorts. This stuff is so outlandish you have to be possessed by the Devil to dream it up.
