... The Pakistani Embassy in Washington, D.C., confirmed that exchange student Sabika Sheikh was killed in the shooting. Sabika was an exchange student with YES, which is funded by the U.S. State Department. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo sent his "deepest condolences" to her friends and family in a statement Saturday.

It’s a shame. Now, how soon can we defund “YES”?

Let’s see if we can find unaware people willing to send their children.

He took out the girl who rejected him and mowed down everyone he felt slighted him - but Little Dmitri was too much of a coward to take his own life.

Its infuriating, incomprehensible and sad.

Studies show that when a mass murderer is done with the spree, he has to kill himself immediately, for his rage is spent and he feels better after the killings. These were studies from the seventies and sixties.

Pagourtzis is only 17, he has realistic odds of rotting in prison for over sixty years. He should have just killed himself.

Based on two comments by two different kids....the kid in question was a massive gamer. I think four weeks into the future....we will find that he was somewhat autistic and probably on some type of antidepressant drug routine.

He killed because he was bullied.

Just like Parkland killer was bullied.

We’re not paying enough attention to marginal and alienated kids.

The next shooting is only a matter of time somewhere and not just some kid wants to become a copycat killer.

Then there is the Andy Warhol 15 minutes fame thing - its a telling commentary the only time in their lives any one pays them attention is when they commit a deadly rampage.

“Pagourtzis is only 17, he has realistic odds of rotting in prison for over sixty years.”

Nope, not in Texas. They will fry his dumb ass within 10-15 yrs.

Interesting. All these gun grabbers should be asking themselves one question: If U.S. schools are such dangerous places because of all the guns here, then why do foreign families feel comfortable sending their kids here in these exchange programs?

Sorry, but you're wrong. The Supreme Court ruled in 2005 that the death penalty is unconstitutional for offenders who were under 18 at the time of their crime. Pagourtzis was 17; he can't be given the death penalty.

Only if other inmates do it, because the Death Penalty is now Unconstitutional for people who commit murder under the age of 18.

Even more is that the anti gun activists will say that he deserved to be bullied because he became a murderer later.

>> We’re not paying enough attention to marginal and alienated kids.

Just finished a two-day course on trauma and victimization funded by the DoJ. Good course; the anecdotes from the instructors and students really brought the material home. Here’s one:

New third grade teacher (8-9 years of age) - just out of college and in his first months of work - lets the kids out for recess when his mentor gives him a chalkboard assignment: “Make a list of all your students. 24 kids in class; he lists 17 of them and then gets stuck. He had listed the troublemakers first (duh!), then the good students.

The mentor then asked “What about the other 7?” He answered “They’re pretty much invisible.” “Exactly”, said the mentor, “and they’re the most at-risk kids of the whole bunch.”

“It’s your job to draw them in; to complement them when they do something positive. Considering the sh!t they have to deal with at home, you may be THE only person in their life who cares. You could make an impact that lasts the rest of their lives.”

This is why concealed carry is a right, not a privilege and should be the law of the land. You never know when someone will target you for assassination. That teacher should have been armed, not only to protect herself but to protect the kids.

You don’t have to arm every teacher: just arm one, but don’t tell anyone who it is!

The mentor sounds like a wise man. Or should I say person.

I disagree with the ‘arming of one teacher’ and then not telling anyone who it is. The reality is there are always going to be suicidal people and we never know where they will strike. To that end, more people need to be armed to repel that strike when and where it happens.

Schools are unlike airplanes were an single Air Marshall can effectively cover the entire space because it is enclosed and small. School campuses are entirely too large. In the event in Texas, I understand there were armed guards on campus and they engaged the shooter leaving one officer critically wounded. However, as the saying goes, when seconds count, the police are minutes away.
