KANYE WEST: RACIST (Wait...what?)
BillWhittle.com ^ | 5/2/2018 | Bill Whittle

Posted on 05/19/2018 7:36:20 PM PDT by rlmorel

An excerpt from this video:

"Kayne West listens to Jordan Petersen. And as I write this, I have discovered that he has quoted the smartest man on planet Earth, Thomas Sowell. Kanye West quoted Thomas Sowell.

(pretend faints) Sorry about that.

Kanye West has 28 million Twitter followers. 28 million people just heard from Thomas Sowell. Another 28 million I'm guessing that the number who have never heard of Thomas Sowell before is somewhere around oh, 28 million.

Now that means that Kanye has to renounce his conservative crimes, oh, he just HAS to. And for the biggest reason of all, which is simply this:

Kanye West has given people PERMISSION to like Donald Trump. This influential as cool as they get pop icon listens to Jordan Petersen, and Candace Owens, and and THOMAS SOWELL? And that gives ANYONE who has ever heard of Kanye West permission to listen to them too. Kanye is many, many things, but a square is not one of them. So, here is where the Left has a bit of a problem on its hands..."

I know this is not exactly current news, and I understand Kanye West may or may not be a conservative or a friend, but this is a great commentary by the always-excellent Bill Whittle on why this is an important cultural marker, and why the Left has been losing its collective mind over it. Your thoughts?

dang! fouled up the HTML. It should all be in italics (a quote) in the excerpt from the video.

Kanye West can be a nut, truth be told. But, he is tremendously influential and popular in certain circles, and so his going off the plantation is truly a watershed moment. I’d caution anyone who might think he’s a genuine ally long term, not very likely. But, he’s broken free of the shackles for now and has many followers.

< p > will turn off < i >.

Use < br >< br > instead of a < p >.

You’ll get the paragraph, but the < i > will remain turned on.

Then just end it where you want with the < /i >.

I respect that Kayne West stuck his neck out. I’m under no delusion that he will agree with us on everything.

Hopefully others in time will join him and this ridiculous “all in” leaning towards the Democrats every election will melt away.

As a group of people, how can you feel good about yourself allowing the Democrats to herd you like cattle every election, then never follow through.

As Conservatives, at least we are willing to call our leaders on their treachery. Hopefully Blacks will come to their senses and follow suit.

Look, as Conservatives it took us a while to wake up too. Blacks haven’t got a corner on that market.

Agreed. However, the most powerful part of this isn’t Kayne West, it is the fact that he has many people who (for better or worse) look at him as a cultural indicator on whether or not they can feel a certain way about something or someone.

It’s weak, but blacks aren’t the only ones who do this, all segments of society do this too greater or lesser degrees.

The fact that he sent the name “Thomas Sowell” outward to a group of tens of millions of people who may have had no idea who Thomas Sowell is, and the fact that they may now not only know the name of Thomas Sowell, they also know that someone like Kanye West (who they may admire) has taken to quoting Sowell...and that (quoting) is generally regarded as a sign of respect by most people.

Very powerful.

Personally, I knew nothing about Kanye West except that when my wife realized I had no idea who Kim Kardashian was as I saw her on Television and asked my wife “Who is that?” she said “Geez. You don’t know who Kim Kardashian is? You know she is married to Kanye West, don’t you?” I had to shake my head weakly. I have lost touch with a lot of popular culture since I stopped watching television back in the late Nineties.

Hehe, funny. I KNOW that the < P > will negate it but...I completely forgot to check it before I posted, where I would usually fix it by...putting in another < i >

So that is good advice...Thank you. I...KNEW it, but never LEARNED it simply because I would fix it that bad way by putting in another < i > and not give it another thought...:)

No problem. I’ve had the same problem before, and this was my solution. Of course reissuing the < i > command is a fix too.

Thanks for the response.

Yes, Kanye is a courageous man to acknowledge a truth that has set his mind free.

I agree. He may be a bad character for all I know.

But I know this: Any person who respects and quotes Thomas Sowell with such obvious respect simply cannot be all bad.

As you can see from my Freep Page, Thomas Sowell has been a hero of mine since I read his “Basic Economics: A Citizen’s Guide to The Economy”.

I have never heard a song he has ever written, never even seen him speak in a video. Have seen pictures.

But in his line of work, being willing to risk your livelihood by sticking your neck out (a real threat, as we know) means something, and doing it in support of a conservative, well, that’s real.

He may not be conservative, he may be a douche, I have no idea. But I respect someone who walked the walk. Not like these cheesy leftists who say they will leave the country but never do.

We agree on the dynamics involved, and I wasn’t trying to put Kayne down. As I said, I do respect his stance on these matters related to support for Trump.

I’m much more willing to accept a guy on the Left seeing part of the light, than I am willing to forgive a guy who has studied the right for over a decade, and still can’t find a reason to oppose Hillary Clinton more than Donald Trump.

One could truthfully say that about Republicans and FReepers, you know. Donald Trump broke the mold.

That’s why I tossed in that last paragraph in Post 5.

We finally had to come to the place where the Republican Party wasn’t cutting it, and we had to tell them to stick it.

That just what we did in 2016.

I would say that at least from 1996 on, it was brutally clear the Republican party had left the reservation.

Dole, Bush, McCain, Romney,... these guys didn’t represent our cause.

As you stated or alluded to, Trump certainly does.

Okay cool. I did agree with your comment in 11. I just wanted you to know I did, and thought pointing my 5 comment out would relate that to you.

Take care.

My 21 year old son cast his first presidential vote for Trump. He is not a totally conservative guy as most people that age are still figuring out their bearings. This momma tried her best and I think I did well. I always encouraged him to think for himself, with my, ahem, influence.

He’s a huge Kanye West music fan. I think this is a win/win all the way around. Encouraging non-plantation thought is a good thing.

Kanye West quoted Thomas Sowell.

Kanye has seen the sunlight. He will never be able to un-see it.

Welcome to Realville, Kanye.

To those who are praying for our country, and our government, and our people, and our President:

Might want to add Kanye to the list.

For those who are doing so already:

This is probably helping to keep him alive. Continue, please.
