Authorities in Venezuela have seized a plant owned by the American cereal manufacturer Kellogg.
It comes after the firm announced it was pulling out of the country because of the worsening economic situation.
President Nicolas Maduro, who has previously accused the US of waging economic war against his government, called the closure "absolutely unconstitutional and illegal".
He said the factory had been handed to workers and would continue production.
Earlier, workers had said they had been prevented from entering the plant in the central city of Maracay on Tuesday.
The announcement comes ahead of Sunday's presidential elections.
"We've begun judicial proceedings against the business leaders of Kellogg's because their exit is unconstitutional," Mr Maduro told cheering supporters in the central state of Carabobo.

I believe Kellog is a stand alone company, symbol K on the NYSE.
Kellog is one of those “socially responsible” companies aka lefty group. Here is a small portion of the posting on Wiki:
In January 2012, Kellogg’s gave the Calhoun School a $250,000 grant for a “three-part youth-based project on issues of white privilege and institutionalized racism”.[54] In August 2014, Kellogg’s called on the President to support the Paris Agreement on climate change.[55] In 2016, Kellogg Company urged President-elect Donald Trump to “continue the Paris Climate Agreement”.[56] Kellogg’s has donated to notable groups opposing voter-ID laws, such as the Applied Research Center (now RaceForward).[57] The company also decided to remove their advertisements from the Breitbart News website.[58] Breitbart News in turn called for a boycott of Kellogg’s products.[59]
So in my mind lay with dogs and expect to get fleas.
That would be half abowl of rice and half a bowl of floor sweeping corn flakes
Communism: the collectivity owns all the means of production.
What democrats would do if they were allowed.
“How will the factory produce product with no inputs?”
Production will increase in quantity and quality!
Without the mundane and petty distractions of bourgeois metrics such as so called ‘supply’, ‘manufacture’ or ‘profit’, the Maduroista thought leaders will guide their comrades on the Workers’ Councils think Deep Thoughts and Meaningful Proclamations and Manifestos. They will not be bound by old ways of thinking! These thought products are more enduring and significant than mere cereal.
The Lightbringer Obama will celebrate the Venezuelan Stakhanovite Thought Workers from some tropical bath house as they herald the New Dawn.
oh, snap
You forgot Crackle and Pop.

Or cash to purchase input? Another communist dream come true!
Atlas Shrugged has a scenario where as the nation moved ever more socialist and dictatorial and the economy tanked as a result that a "Directive 10-289" is passed which makes it illegal to close a factory or cut costs in any way.
That women knew commies like the back of her hand.
***Soylent Verde?***
The basic ingredient has to have some meat or fat on it to be useful. Not just skin and bones.
“How will the factory produce product with no inputs?”
it won’t ... no doubt Maduro “nationalized” an empty building that hadn’t produced a box of cereal in months since Kellogg was unable to obtain raw materials for production ... Maduro’s claims to the contrary are his typical lies that are pretty much the only food that the peasants are receiving ...
That was the first thing to come to mind. Where did the grain and rice come from when the plant was operating? Since the people are near starvation, it can't be from their own country. The grain probably came from the US. The rice, who knows? Doesn't matter because Venezuela can't afford to import anything.
Just saw on the news: To curb the runaway inflation of their currency (which they weigh on scales), Maduro has ordered their treasury to lop off 3 zeros from their new pressings of their worthless paper money. That'll fix it ...prosperity is just 3 digits away.
I keep asking: Where is Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Michael Moore now that their socialist utopian wet dream has dried up? They were best buds with Chavez and Maduro is continuing the same failed policies. If I was a Twitter person, I'd be hounding those socialists day and night. I deleted Facebook, so can't go there and I won't go to their own sites.
But wait. Bernie Sanders, most Democrats, and millenials "feel" better without the burden of commonsense, so they'll make that failed system work this time - right here. It won't cost them a dime.
Comrades! I’m sure the workers taking over this factory from those greedy capitalists will lead to a veritable tidal wave of output. Pretty soon the worker’s paradise will be drowning in frosted flakes! I just know socialism will work this time!
They can produce “Bernie Flakes”
Yet apparently they still cheer him on...
Point Two. All industrial, commercial, manufacturing and business establishments of any nature whatsoever shall henceforth remain in operation, and the owners of such establishments shall not quit nor leave nor retire, nor close, sell or transfer their business, under penalty of the nationalization of their establishment and of any and all of their property.
He said the factory had been handed to workers and would continue production.
And most people dont think that socialism leads to communism. This is exactly what Marx said, the proletariat takes over the means of production.
quien sabe
Sure it will.
How will the factory produce product with no inputs?
Oh, yeah, that. Socialism is a perfect system: the managers that they ran out will purchase the grain that they can't make with money that they don't have. Prosperity!
Lenin actually tried something like this shortly after the Bolsheviks took over. No more bosses, direction of the manufacturing companies placed in the hands of workers' soviets. It went about as well as you might expect: disaster.
Kellogg’s is having all sorts of problems. I don’t have to go to Venezuela to find a shuttered Kellogg’s plant. I pass by one on Torch Hill Road here in Columbus, GA every time I take my daughter to her karate class.
“Hey comrades...you can have a bowl of cereal for breakfast—if you only had some milk...and a bowl of cereal!”
