Makes sense: Without the July 2017 (Carter Page - even though he already left Trump campaign months ago) FISA extension, Robert Mueller would not have predicate investigative authority to reach into the accounts of his targets and extract their personal communication. Mueller would have needed to go to court for a search warrant; he is conducting a criminal investigation; he would have needed probable cause. However, by applying the 2016 extended FISA Title-1 warrant, the Clinton-Mueller special counsel used the previous legal authority to extract all the information they wanted to review.

Who runs the DOJ?

Who sips Wine with Rosenstein

What Department of Government has no interest in the Personal devices used to evade Dept. Safeguards while plotting against the President of the United States?

In short, this is part of the coup going on against the duly elected government from within and outside.

I wish to Hell the political commentators would use that term and start calling it what it is.

Looks like Mueller needs to tuck his tail and resign forthwith.

I knew this day would come when the tricks would start being unearthed (and this is just the first one). And that’s why I wanted Mueller right where he was until today. Now he’s caught in his own trap. Undeniably. Inextricably. Deliciously. And I’m going to have some chocolate to celebrate!

When it comes to keeping Americans safe from terrorism, there's a "strict wall" (the "Gorelick wall") between the intelligence world and the criminal law world.

When it comes to harassing and weakening Republican Presidents, the wall comes tumbling down, and the intelligence world and the criminal law world work together, and the MSM-Democrats cheer.

Wasn’t this FISA warrant obtained through the false pretense of the Steele dossier?

So that is why they want to keep the Rosenstein memo redacted? Does that apply to the Cohen case too?

Under normal criminal investigation any search warrant or surveillance warrant would normally proceed through U.S. courts, under Title-3, where the Mueller team would need to show probable cause for a warrant. However, by using the Title-1 warrant from the FBI counterintelligence operation, as extended by AAG Rod Rosenstein, Robert Mueller was able to use far more intrusive and unchecked searches and seizures for his criminal probe.

Why don't we know what the "insurance policy" is?

If the insurance policy is exposed then it might shut all these investigations down.

Mueller’s team says its authorities are laid out in documents including the August 2017 scope memo – and that some powers are actually secret because they involve ongoing investigations and national security matters that cannot be publicly disclosed.

Ellis seemed amused and not persuaded

Won’t try to count the number of times I’ve heard unabashed city lawyers boast about their collective ability to take down Trump.

Thinking back to Trump’s amazing victory, I recall hearing an asshat discussing his unethical access to records on Pence’s wife. I only heard his side of the conservation which he didn’t mind expressing out loud. And on the call, this self-described lawyer expressed his willingness to get prosecuted for the breach — “if that’s what it takes.” A woman standing nearby seemed to roll her eyes in disbelief — prolly a Trump supporter.

There is deep hatred for Trump in the judiciary. And that hatred ultimately translates to hatred of us. So let’s keep that in mind this November. Spread the word. Get out the vote. Trump is campaigning.

Who is responsible to end the Special Counsel investigation? It needs to be ended immediately.

Trump can’t afford the political fallout or the appearance of partisanship he would get by firing Mueller.

Jeff Sessions is worthless as sin and won’t exercise his job function to end the Special Counsel investigation.

Can Congress do this? Can Congress use it’s oversight role to demand an end to the Special Counsel investigation. I am thinking they can’t, due to separation of powers, but since Congress never renewed the Special Counsel law and let it lapse, can’t Congress demand that DOJ is in violation of US law whereby there is no authority to have a Special Counsel without Congress authorizing it by law?

This witch hunt needs to end immediately. Trump should just fire Sessions and replace him with someone who would run DOJ instead of letting commie Rat Rosenstein run it in Sessions’s absence.
