Actually it is more likely that China pressured N Korea — after Trump’s people explained to them, that if they want to continue to do business with the US, they better get NK in line.

China has not been “communist” in the economic sense since the early days of Deng, more than a generation ago.
It is the most highly successful, and functioning, fascist state since Franco’s Spain. (Far more successful than Franco’s Spain could have dreamt of being, thanks to its cohesive culture and strong traditions). The “communist” logo is a decoration only, for “continuity purposes”, so to speak.
North Korea, OTOH is a TRUE “Marxist Paradise” - hence the widespread poverty and repression.
You are right about an international coalition building a modern economy in N Korea - China will be part of it.
A leading role in that rebuilding has probably been promised by POTUS to China, to help grease the wheels of the process ...
