A dozen Indian workers at an East Bay technology firm were promised salaries of up to $8,300 a month, but after the company brought them in under the controversial H-1B visa, they found themselves netting as little as $800 per month, the federal government alleged Tuesday.

$8,300/month, because no one in America wants that job.
This is how the Democrats promote more racism and Slavery. The Democrats have not changed from the Civil War. They are still Slavery Advocates
Yup. I hope more people wake up and stop supporting the Democrats.
H1B is to skilled workers, what illegals are to unskilled... the entire program needs gone. There is no saving or fixing it.
Leftist slavery at its finest, redefining the NWO...
It’s nice to see the purveyors of all thst is good and right practicing slavery.
” we bring them in because we can’t possibly find any Americans at all for these jobs”
that is a freaking lie.
what that really means is:
“we can’t find Americans to do this work in return for nothing at all”
liberal tech tycons hear about what Ag bosses can get away with out in the sweltering crop fields and they set about doing the same thing.
There’s an apartment complex near me that has a lot of Indians on H-1B visas.Whenever I see them I remember that they’re here to deny an American a good paying job.
>>Investigators found that the company paid impacted employees well below the wage levels required under the H-1B program based on job skill level,
FUinvestigators.
They should see what native born Americans with 20+ years of industry experience and a degree are drawing thanks to depressed wages from the H1B scam.
“well below wage levels based upon job skill level”
It’s a crock.
This has been going on for years. I am in the IT world and my first experience with this was around 1995. Indian companies put 8 men in a run down 2 bedroom apartment. Pay them 18,000 per year. Bill them out at rates sometimes in the hundreds per hour. Indians do it because they have to be sponsored, uninterrupted, for 4 years in order to get a green card. If they have to get a new sponsor, the clock resets to zero.
I say prosecute the tech chiefs for lying to Congress and saying that there just aren’t enough Americans who can do this work.
Just DemocRats being themselves. First they enslaved the blacks, then they kept them oppressed by making them sharecroppers and paying them less than whites, then they kept workers indebted to the company store, now they import workers from India and take most of their pay in “expenses”.
What they are saying is “Indians smart. Americans dumb.”
Is there a “company store” involved? Does the company provide (and charge for) housing, etc.? That and CA taxes could explain the low net.
The H-1B os fraud.
There is no shortage of STEM qualified people here. The H-1B is used merely to bring in the individuals the company here has already determined they personally want. The idea that they had been looking for persons with certain qualifications before they went abroad to get the workers is usually at least a fabrication if not an outright lie. The persons overseas are already known to them and they have no desire to look for equally qualified persons here. And with the H-1B they have a legal out not to.
OK, you answered my post 15 question.
Democrats exploit this, but don’t think for a second that the GOP (think ‘Chamber of Commerce’) doesn’t enable this practice. It has definitely hurt American workers, myself included.
In the Bay area, that’s just average pay. Rent alone can cost you over $4k a month. A starter home in the area is $750k. After rent, health insurance, federal, state, and local taxes you are probably left with about $1500-1800 a month to buy groceries, pay utility bills, car insurance, car payments, clothing, etc.
And California just sucks, too.
That is not a particularly high salary for this sort of work. The Americans probably want $200K or more.
