Watching Jack Bryans explosive documentary Active Measures, about Russias espionage program and the effect it had on the 2016 U.S. presidential election, could be likened to watching a 21st century version of Watergate.
[snip]
a bevy of interviews with key Washington figures including former CIA director James Woolsey, former United States Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, former F.B.I. special agent Clint Watts, Hillary Clinton and John McCain. Via these interviews Active Measures constructs a powerful argument as to how Soviet modern warfare tactics active measures shifted the 2016 U.S. presidential elections and weakened Western democracy. The film also meticulously documents Trumps problematic financial relationship with the Russian oligarchy that began decades ago.
Russians have a particular type of mark who they go after, explains one of the films interview subjects, senator Sheldon Whitehouse. They go after somebody who has business resources, perhaps some shady morals so they are amenable to bribery or perhaps are in a difficult financial situation and (someone who) has political connections or aspirations. Ive just described Donald Trump. He was the perfect mark for the Russians.
Talking heads also point to New Yorks Trump Tower as a money laundering paradise full of shell companies. Watts says that by Russia using cheaper tactics than traditional warfare i.e. propaganda, media manipulation and funding extremist groups they were able to divide the U.S. in 2016. By dividing a nation we cant protect ourselves from threats within or without, says Watts.
While Bryan as well as the docus producers, Marley Clements and Laura DuBois, are looking forward to the films HotDocs premiere, they are also aware that the movies subject matter could lead to personal safety issues, which is why the trio has hired a security team and are watching what they drink.

I think it would be an interesting documentary that explored whether Russia may have spent money to destabilize the U.S. by promoting propaganda advocating homosexual rights, same-sex marriage, wasteful and useless government programs, and the sexual revolution with its “reproductive rights” and abortion.
Sure. Same kind of crap as Loose Change and other Truther films
Well played.
AND Odumbo did NOTHING!?
Smells like......
If that doesn't bring him down, Ken Burns has a new documentary in the works that proves it was Trump, not Hitler, who planned and orchestrated "The Final Solution."
To circumnavigate the small problem of Trump only having been born 13 months after Hitler's suicide, Burns has gathered evidence showing that after Trump is forced out of office in 2025 by the 22nd Amendment, he hires Elon Musk to invent a time machine, which he uses to time travel back to 1939 to provide Hitler with a complete roadmap to the Holocaust.
And if that doesn't drive him out of office, they plan to get really weird.
sounds like Zero to me
Remember when Putin used to feel puffed up with pride for himself when he posed shirtless with bears and tigers? Now he doesnt have to leave his couch. The US media makes him look far more powerful every day. Pass the vodka.
Russia (soviet Russia) was an old pro at this way back when. Before the Berlin wall fell, they owned the young guilt ridden W Germans. They put out so much propaganda against the USA and toward the USSR and communism. Everything commie was cool. Theyve been doing this for decades, it was nothing new in 2016. And guess what? Every country will try to influence the elections of other countries. So effing what.
Whitehouse is too stupid to even be a Soviet/Russian “Manchurian Candidate” but he was good enough for Connecticut or Rhode Island or one of those liberal shithouse states on the east coast.
This man is nasty and batshit crazy like his fellow Senator Blumenthal (he fought in Vietnam you know, about 1998, I think).
We’ve got to clean up New England’s water supply. Too many crazy people coming from there, all Democrats.
Science fiction.
Or is it simply a children’s cartoon?
But Red Ted did it for the sake of Communism, which is a noble goal in their minds, dont you understand?
Maybe a little extra narcissism and lack of logic in those filmmakers, at least. Either that, or they have some other motive for fabricating a conspiracy theory.
It appears that conspiracy theories are more popular now than in the past. Might the popularity of marijuana have something to do with that? Conspiracy theories seem to be popular mostly with those who smoke or ingest pot regularly.
Whitehouse is an interesting character. The following is related to some of his activities and the activities of others like him. Tell your nicer grandkids, if any, and other nicer young folks in your neighborhood to stay away from “vaping” anything, and especially to stay away from marijuana.
A nationwide trap for slavery is being constructed. It’s being done for the revenues and to turn a larger part of the population towards socialism.
If you warn the kids, you’ll only be saving a few. It’s been going on for quite a while already.
They did. There is an interview with a defected KGB officer Yuri Bezmenov where he details it. The interview itself is from the 80s, but it is available in YouTube.
Same things now. Russia was caught organizing kickboxing lessons to BLM militants. Nazi boy Richard Spencer was promoted by their Russia Today TV network. They want blood on the streets.
That was very creative. The sad thing is that many leftists would believe all of it.
Haha thats perfect. I may steal it. I dont think it will fit in a tag line but might in a Tweet.
