On today’s Morning Joe, New York Times reporter Nick Confessore, apropos of Michelle Wolf’s line about Aunt Lydia and Sarah Huckabee Sanders at the correspondents’ dinner, said:
“Mika, actually the joke was about lying and not her looks. I think the reference to Aunt Lydia was a reference to the character on that show. That’s my opinion.”

My daughter called me up to say how “realistic” the show is. I disabused her of that notion.
You obviously didn’t watch the act. It was hilarious and she destroyed Congress, the Democrats, Ted Kennedy, Harvey Weinstein, MSNBC, CNN, Fox. She pointed out how the Democrats need to own up to the fact that abortion kills a baby. Yes, she was brutal to Trump, Sarah Sanders and Kelly Conway, Ivanka. Made fun of the news focus on Russia. She said nothing about Sarah Sanders’ looks. People should watch it before they hold forth about what they think she said. Yes, it was raunchy, but, so what? Consider the audience.

We don’t watch TV in this house. If everyone abstained from the filth offered there, many of the followers of Satan would be out of work.
That’s how I was raised. I don’t watch TV, although I have a bunch. There is nothing on and I hate commercials. However, I do watch You Tube and Netflix, bet you do too.

What about the bit that she burns ash and uses it for that smokey eye look?
The way it was said was not flattering but poking fun, the least “mean” thing Wolf said.
Sarah uses dark eye shadow on her eye lid which gives it a look called “smokey eye” look.
I’m not sure if the crack about burning ash could be a hit to Catholics or just where that come from.
