NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police are investigating a vicious dog attack that was caught on camera in the subway.

A pit bull latched onto a passenger’s foot and wouldn’t let go.

Now, people are wondering why the animal was on the train in the first place.

The owner also blamed the woman for “attacking the dog first”.

That's pit bull owners in a nutshell. I think most of them get those dogs because they are anti-social and want to give everyone a metaphorical finger. When the dog, predictably, goes off on someone, they then get a chance to blame the victim.

Dogs prone to violence owned by people who like to have a dog that shows what a badass he is are not a good combination for great outcomes.

There was a recent political rally in NC where a Democrat sheriff candidate said something to the effect that he was willing to kill people to take their guns. All of your neighbors who attended that cheered wildly at the statement. They ARE the enemy.

I beleieve some folks do need emotional support animals. I knew a woman wbo had a lovely dog. A whippet, the dog was very good at for her. yes the dog was her go to thing. but I have never met anyone who needed a support snake,weasel, pitbull,peacock, lizard etc. It has gotten ridiculous , and to question anyone about why they have their dog in walmrt is to open a nonsensical can of worms with someone who's already unstable. I was in a cardiac ICU last week as a patient and they have dogs in as therapy which I actually enjoyed

I actually read this article and watched the video

A) no big dogs on subways or light rail

B) a man doesn’t get into a fight with a woman even if she’s a bitch unless she is truly bodily harm threatening

C) don’t get into a fight with a man who has a red nose pit sitting with him

D) go straight to a local catholic sanctuary and light a candle and say a prayer of gratitude all that got hurt was your shoe

There are more lessons in this tale but blaming the dog this go around is way down the list

I stayed at the Park Hyatt off Michigan ave in Chicago last week and they had a resident dog by the reception

I lived in Manhattan for years long ago and I even took the subway on occasion though I preferred taxi or car hire

I’m trying to wrap my head around the sight of unlimited open carry of sidearms or Bowie knives on the subway at rush hour
