Melania Trump has made a point of honoring France and French culture and highlighting French-American ties going back to the Revolutionary War during Macron’s state visit.
She has very elegantly tied together the state dinner, the decorations and many other details to thoughtfully and tastefully honor both Macron personally and France and French culture in general
The hat and dress were, along with many other wardrobe selections for the French visit, both chosen to honor influential French fashion designers
The First Lady is paying particular attention towards honoring famed French fashion design icon Hubert de Givenchy , who recently passed away at the age of 91 and much of her wardrobe choices were in homage to the Givenchy style. Melania is obviously sophisticated student of both design and French history and culture
All in all, Melania Trump has personally engineered a sophisticated and subtle homage to France and French culture, of which high fashion is a uniquely French claim to fame. This says a lot about the First Lady and all of its good.
This has obviously went completely over the heads of the ignorant and petty talking heads in the media
