Pompeo better swiftly unearth all the Hillary papers and turn them over the house committee.
Good.
Mark Levin was on fire today about this ridiculous obstruction against Pompeo’s confirmation. He lambasted the Democratic party for their unabashed support for a murderer (Kennedy), rapist (Clinton), and a friend of domestic terrorists (Obama) and yet a man with Pompeo’s sterling credentials somehow is deemed unacceptable?
The good Senator knows how to maximize his position within the party and, at the same time, garnish the camera time as a player.
BUMP!
Democrat Coons made the difference.
More winning by the non-career politician!
Is the floor vote tonight?
The committee approved Pompeo's nomination on a party-line vote, with all 11 Republicans backing him, nine Democrats opposed and one Democrat, Chris Coons, voting "present" because of Senate procedural rules.
Senate committee paves way for Pompeo to become top U.S. diplomat
Good!
In praise I will start calling Rand Paul our “last minute rescuer”.
I never really got why he initially was opposed to Pompeo.
That said, however, I think this sensible attitude sometimes gets stretched to the extreme where it veers into dogmatic isolationism. I generally really like Rand Paul. He is a strong advocate for defending the Constitution and staying true to its original intent, but his Libertarian leanings often cause him to see a so-called neocon behind every tree and to risk doing considerable damage to our cause by prioritizing his pet crusade over often more relevant and important concerns.
Im glad he came to his senses at the last minute. Mike Pompeo will be an excellent Secretary of State, and his experience and no-nonsense approach will be crucial in dealing with North Korea and others (Iran?) in the future. If our diplomatic corps was populated with isolationists like Rand, we would have no chance of negotiating favorable outcomes with regimes that only understand power and force.
Sen Coon of Delaware does right think votes present despite Melendez suggestion to wait.
