NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The suspect in a quadruple homicide at a Nashville Waffle House was taken into custody Monday, police said.
Authorities had mounted a massive manhunt for 29-year-old Travis Reinking, after the Sunday morning attacks.
Authorities announced the arrest Monday afternoon on Twitter, but did not immediately give details.
More than 100 Nashville police officers had been going door-to-door and searching wooded areas, joined by dozens of agents with the FBI, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Police said he had stolen a BMW days before the attack. The car was quickly recovered, but authorities did not immediately link it to Reinking.
Reinking, described as a white man with brown hair, opened fire with an AR-15 in the Waffle House parking lot and then stormed the restaurant shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, police say. Four people were killed and four others were injured before a quick-thinking customer wrestled the assault weapon away, preventing more bloodshed. Reinking then disappeared, police said.
Police say about 20 people were in the Waffle House at the time of the shootings. They included people of different races and ethnicities, but the four people killed were minorities_three black and one Hispanic.
It's not clear why Reinking opened fire on restaurant patrons, though he may have "mental issues," Metropolitan Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson said earlier. He's considered armed and dangerous, because he was known to have owned a handgun authorities have not recovered.
Meanwhile, authorities in Illinois shared past reports suggesting multiple red flags about a disturbed young man with paranoid delusions.

Something is building, the media shills are obviously building up for another big takedown, this time of Waffle House, IMHO.
I had heard that the only reason there was that window of opportunity to tackle the guy was due to the shooter's gun jamming. Was the reason for the pause in shooting confirmed yet?

Gee, mewzilla, have you ever worked Auto Theft in a major city police department? Beleive it or not, most departments don’t concentrate on stolen cars anymore, unless they’re taken in car jackings, as it’s considered a property crime. Bigger departments are busy going after chop shops and the fraudulent, Buy Here Pay Here car dealers that are able to flip VINs and sell stolen cars to drug dealers etc.
Do you think that every department and every property crime that is reported has the team from CSI:Nashville, Vegas or NY coming out there with a full forensic team, a portable DNA lab and an army of Crime Scene techs? Or are those individuals responding to murders, rapes, robberies, home invasions, burglaries? Do they all have the ability to solve every crime in the allotted 45 minutes, with commercials.
I don’t who recovered the car. I don’t know what the circumstances were. I don’t know what time of day it was, but if the Auto Theft guys work during the day and the car was recovered at night, they aren’t getting out of bed. But, if a patrolman ran the tag, it came back stolen, with no discernible way to determine the scumbag had anything to do with it, like any other big city dept(if it was in fact recovered in Nashville) had it towed to an impound yard.
It’s obviously very easy for people like you, who don’t know sh*t about being a cop, to monday morning QB the cops. Especially when you weren’t there or have any idea what they do.
I suspect he may be a sovereign citizen. There is a report that a “handwritten ID” was found.
