"This kind of chaotic volatility in our trading relationships damages the market,"

Now Steffen, who didn't vote for Trump...

For every producer whose life-blood is foreign markets, there’s 20 whose life-blood are domestic markets. You cannot make every producer happy. What type of trade agreement(s) truly gives ALL your citizens (not just service sector professionals) the opportunity to make a decent living?

This dovetails with an article I read in the New York Times which listed farmers by name who did vote for Trump who were upset with the trade policy. I don’t know if they are going to vote Democrat, but people voting their pocketbook is not shocking. I agree with Trump’s tariffs, though, and think the long term outcome will be better. I understand the concern of the famers, but I hope they give it a chance because their industry is succeeding while the rustbelt has been devastated. I support the subsidies in the short term anyway. I think Trump ideally should have done this his first year in office as that way I think things could have played out without the election timetable.

NBC has become like the pet dog, always leaving a new steaming surprise right there at the front door each morning. Sadly, NBC has the free run of the house in too many homes.

"From his dairy farm in southeastern Nebraska, lifelong Republican Ben Steffen... Now Steffen, who didn't vote for Trump, is a vocal supporter of Jane Raybould, the Democrat"

So the article is a lie. He is not a lifelong Republican. He did not vote Republican for President and he's supporting a Democrat for Senator. That makes Mr. Steffen a DEMOCRAT.

What's next for fake news?

An illegal alien telling us that American citizens don't like Trump enforcing immigration laws with "GOP faces American rebellion over Trump immigration agenda" as the title.

You can tell it is a mid-term election year. NBC is in full chaos sowing mode, to try and get more leftist, socialist, commie Democrats elected. Disgusting bastards need guillotines from orbit.

I just did a little research and in 2014 mid terms at this point on the calendar April 20, 2014 the Dems were ahead of the Republicans 41.8 to 39.1 Generic polling! Republicans beat them by 5.6% in Nov..

My Illinois Farm Bureau newspaper was urging readers to vote against Republicans in the midterms because of the market outlook.

Trump may have pulled off a good deal with Japan. Can't remember the product(s), think maybe ethanol, pork and soybeans.

Trump prefers bilateral trade agreements rather than multiple-participatant trade deals but was talking getting back in the TPP, hopefully on better terms for us.

After people started being able to buy into Obamacare, there was a letter published from a reader who raved about it and told how awful it had been before with medical insurance.

Years ago I was one of those people who couldn't get medical insurance anywhere so joined the IL Farm Bureau and got a policy but was soon dumped. They all dumped me if I was able to get ins so I had to do without for many years. I didn't politicize it though.

"Apr 5, 2018 - If farmers are worried, so are Republican politicians, who depended on small-town America to hand them control of Congress and know how quickly those voters could take it away. Just seven months before the 2018 midterm elections, Trump's faceoff with China over trade has exposed an unexpected ..." Source ilfb.org

So take it for what it's worth.

A life long Republican who did not vote for Trump. And now he is a barometer of Trump’s rural chances? Can news get any more fake and full of lies?

You look at the list of those objecting to the tariffs proposed by China on US farm products and the list consists of the top 25 farm corporation monopolies not individual farmers.

Now Steffen, who didn't vote for Trump, is a vocal supporter of Jane Raybould, the Democrat running an improbable campaign against first-term Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb.

That pretty much makes the case that this is contrived BS. Also the source NBC pretty much is a confirmation of that being the case.

The globalist agenda is to deindustrialize the US under a global trade regime in which US industry moves to other countries with cheaper labor and less regulation, and the US becomes primarily an exporter of crops and raw materials.

Basically, our heartland would become primarily agricultural and pastoral. Globalists and progressives have long seen a strong US as the primary problem in the world. (Another part of the agenda is the transplantation of third world populations into the US.)

They are trying to get farm state Republicans on board with the agenda.

lifelong Republican

Whenever they start trotting out the "lifelong Republicans" rest assured they're certainly not conservative and likely aren't even Republican.

Wonder why the big corporate farms want subsidies? So the big corporations and DC bums can “invest” in Ag and scam the rest of us out of money.
