(Reuters) - U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told President Donald Trump last week that he is not a target of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, according to a source familiar with the probe.
After the April 12 conversation with Rosenstein, Trump told advisers that he was not inclined to seek the ouster of either man since he is not the target of Mueller’s probe.
The conversation was first reported by Bloomberg.
The Justice Department told Reuters it does not comment on conversations with the president. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
Mueller is investigating allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.
Russia has denied meddling in the election. Trump has said there was no collusion and has repeatedly called the Mueller probe a “witch hunt,” raising concerns he might try to fire the special counsel or Rosenstein, who oversees the investigation.
Under Justice Department policy, a target is someone who is believed to have committed a crime and is likely to face charges, while a subject is someone whose conduct is within the scope of an investigation, said Lisa Kern Griffin, a former federal prosecutor and a professor at Duke University School of Law.
The Washington Post reported earlier this month that Trump is a subject of the probe.

I don’t trust these SOBs at all!!! I believe they intend to drag out this “investigation” until the November elections. At that time, their “October Surprises” will include dirt uncovered and MANUFACTURED in the Mueller witch hunt with the intention to win a majority in the House and impeach President Trump. They want to negate the election f President Trump by The People. The Republican Establishment is also in on this sedition.

Should Trump trust Mueller and Rosenstein to sell him a used Yugo with 10 miles on the odometer only driven by an old lady to church and home,and also believe that he is not a target and can now speak freely and candidly?
One Untouchables episode had Robert Stack as Eliot Ness quickly agree to a lighter sentence for the Claude Akins crook if he would help save an innocent man minutes away from death. Then Ness was asked about it later by Akins and Ness looked puzzled about the deal. “Did I? I don’t remember.” Mueller & Rosenstein may have memory lapses, too.
He’s an DOJ employee, trust nothing any of them says about anything. DOJ, FBI, CIA, etc... why do a majority of the citizens you are supposed to protect and represent think that way boys and girls??? Hint the people lost confidence,respect and trust for a reason in all of these agencies, the people haven’t changed, look in the mirror fellows. You brought this on yourselves.
Rosenstein is still a deep state schmuck and is on the enemies list.
