This is your brain. This is your brain on race. We can all easily imagine circumstances in which a manager of a coffee shop or restaurant might properly call the police to ask them to remove loiterers. These are places of business. Theres nothing wrong in principle with calling the cops on non-customers who are taking up space. And theres nothing wrong with police asking people to leave private property where they arent welcome, given that trespassing is a crime. When such people refuse, thats unfortunate, but what can the police do but arrest them?
On the other hand, calling the police on two men in a Starbucks because theyre black would be very, very wrong, even outrageous. At a glance, what happened at that Philadelphia coffee shop last Thursday looks like racism. But theres little context. Does the manager also routinely call the police on white people who loiter in the shop? If a white manager called the police on two white guys hanging around a coffee shop, it wouldnt make the news, much less become a national obsession. Was the manager new on the job and unfamiliar with the generally lax policy at Starbucks when it comes to allowing nonpaying customers to hang out? Did the manager have some reason we dont know about for disliking the two men?

Two men went to Starbucks to use the restroom because nature was calling. When they were refused entry to the restroom, they sat down and waited till they were put in handcuffs and taken to the nearest precinct and processed. How much time passed between their feeling a need to a restroom and when they finally were able to relieve themselves? Did BLM/Starbucks set this up just to showoff their ability to educate/indoctrinate their employees on their version of social justice? I heard that the BLM/Starbucks has arranged for former AG Holder to address the baristas on this special day...
Two white guys go into a Starbucks and don’t buy anything. Then they both use the bathroom. Then they both sit down at a table and talk and look at their IPads on free Starbucks wifi. All the other tables are in use. The two white guys are told they either need to be customers (meaning buy something) or leave. They do neither. Police are called. Police ask the two white guys to leave. They refuse. Police cuff the two white guys and take them in to face charges of trespassing.
THEY WERE ARRESTED BECAUSE THE TWO GUYS WERE WHITE!!
Absolutely. This is a growing trend with the “black community”. Start an argument at a sit-down restaurant or yell at the fast food restaurant and get free food. If they have not done so already, look for this behavior at small businesses.
People are losing their minds, period.
Has anyone else noticed this?
People seem to be crazier and crazier by the day.
The whole country has become a gigantic loony bin.
Starbucks made a big mistake with this store-closing for racial retraining. As the author said, even though Starbucks has consistently been more than PC on the whole race issue, thats not enough to save them when the mob gets going. But yielding in this way to screaming rabble rousers and throwing their employees to the wolves (since the employee was simply enforcing company policy) will only encourage the race baiters to scream ever louder and pull even more stunts.
Early reports contained the factoid that the manager, based on the actions of the two men, suspected an imminent holdup. This factoid disappeared rather quickly and hasn’t been heard from since. BUT I heard it.
“Im convinced, as I believe most Americans are, that being black is like a tax or burden that you carry with you at all times”
Call it the Insanely High Crime Rate Tax.
Every race of people on the planet treat black men with suspicion. Why would they do that?
“If the two guys were in suits, thered probably be no problem.”
Do you think the two guys would have refused to leave when asked by the police three times if they were wearing suits?
A post civil war comment on South Carolina was "it is too small to be a country, yet too large to be an insane asylum". We continuously prove that the USA is not too large to be an insane asylum!
Pretty much sums up the whole fake/manufactured debacle.
What do we want? The crowd responded, Liberation! When do we want it? he cried. Now! they answered. Sorry Starbucks may be a great place to get a venti macchiato, but its not able to offer anyone liberation.
Oh the absurdity.
“would have refused to leave”
Yes, because they’d be the same people only in different attire.
But they would be much less likely to have been asked to leave in the first place.
I don’t know about you, but in my white teenage young male years, I got the same kind of treatment from cops, store owners, neighborhood busy bodies, etc., that those claiming racism experience.
This was because I had dressed an acted the teenage part and people have always been suspicious of young males since they tend to act up. Been that way forever.
God forbid that some customer asks for their coffee “black”!
To some people, I guess, Starbucks is an integral part of their daily life, as vapid as that may be.
The CEO of a politically correct business meets his own liberal mental states. Notice I didn’t state principles because liberalism is a bunch of irrational mental states. The further irony here is that Breitbart ran the story where a person familiar with the manager noted her to be an ultra-feminist. Who once scolded an employee using the wrong pronouns. Now Starbucks notes she no longer is at the store.
A competing coffee shop put up a sign that read, "The Starbucks on Grand Avenue is closed. 1 down and 22,568 to go!"
Stupidity in action. There are people for whatever reason are never on time when you go out to eat or grab a drink etc. So you end up waiting for them. The clerk was a overreacting IDIOT.
I’m 1 of those early arrivers as I plan on traffic, construction and accidents or try my best to. Usually 10 mins early. Sometimes even half an hr if you hit traffic perfect.
I agree. Discrimination is one of those words that depends on the context. Like progress, tolerance, all the liberal buzz words. They only see one side of each, but they have two. They can be good in one context, bad in another.
To live successfully, one must discriminate.
Making blind choices is the certain path to failure.
