Hannity Responds to News He Was Michael Cohen's Client

Fox News host Sean Hannity was revealed as having been a client of President Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen during the latter's court hearing Monday. Cohen was appearing in a Manhattan courtroom just days after the FBI raided both his home and office as part of their criminal probe.

Hannity responded on his radio show, noting that the headline was a big nothing burger. Hannity has known Cohen for a long time and has sought his legal advice from time to time, but "not one" of those issues involved a matter between him and a third party.

Michael Cohen has never represented me in any matter. I never retained him, received an invoice, or paid legal fees. I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective.

I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third-party.

In response to some wild speculation, let me make clear that I did not ask Michael Cohen to bring this proceeding on my behalf, I have no personal interest in this proceeding, and, in fact, asked that my de minimis discussions with Michael Cohen, which dealt almost exclusively about real estate, not be made a part of this proceeding.

"How did this blow up to be such a big deal?" Hannity asked.

He predicted that the media is under the impression Cohen must have done "a big settlement case" for him.

Hannity's Fox colleague Juan Williams noted on "The Five" that perhaps he should have revealed his relationship with Cohen sooner.

At today's hearing, Judge Kimba Wood told prosecutors they needed to turn over the documents they seized from Cohen's home and office to his legal team so they can determine how much of it is protected under attorney-client privilege.

This is the first account of this that says Cohen’s attorneys got the ruling in their favor WRT looking at the docs for attorney client material.

Well, I’m shocked!

I didn’t think ANYONE ever got free legal advice.

I’m so naive.

If there are FReepers freaking out about it, then they're the limp wrist crew.

Can't argue with that. I guess they think the Deep State is going to win and don't want to go down with the rest of us when it does.

There enough there for Mueller to get a search warrant now to see if that is true. More than enough.

The linchpin of our whole legal system is the notion that the accused is entitled to a defense; lawyer/client commo is protected for that reason.

If LEO’s can raid a law office willy-nilly clients will gradually stop trusting their lawyers.

Is worth it to throw out our legal system wholesale, in order to GET Trump..?

Apparently they think so.

I doubt if Whiney Juanie has ever disclosed his conversations and dealings with his lawyer ... and I daresay they would be much more “shocking” than any of Sean’s dealings with Cohen. “Let him without sin cast the first stone!”

Kimba Wood? There’s a blast from the past! Wasn’t she the judge who BJ Clinton tried to nominate for the Supreme Court early in his first term but had to withdraw her name when it was revealed she was once a Playboy Bunny in one of Hefner’s clubs? Or was she the other one who had to withdraw when it was discovered she was paying her Hispanic maid under the table with no Social Security taxes being taken out? Old boy really could pick them, huh?

Hannity often has lawyer Alan Dershowitz on to discuss the legal and ethical issues surrounding Mueller, Comey and the rest of the FBI/DOJ crooks. Dershowitz just took Hannity to the woodshed at the start of tonight’s interview for not revealing that he has/had a consultation relationship with Trump attorney Mark Cohen. Hannity responded it was minor and didn’t involve politics, but property. Dershowitz said just the same it would have been best to have revealed it up front before discussing and supporting Cohen.

If Sean’s interaction with Cohen was minimal, with no retention of Cohen as a lawyer and billing of fees, and I’m not suggesting it wasn’t, why was Hannity listed as a client in the material seized by the FBI?

I think maybe Hannity had a parking ticket or two or may have not used his turn signal and he had to consult with Mr. Cohen regarding these or similar legal matters.

Is there any legitimate explanation for this story leaking? It looks to me like yet another abuse of the FBI’s powers by the Deep State. I am disgusted.

It didn't leak. Cohen revealed it himself in open court.

Cohen claimed the government had seized "hundreds of thousands" of privileged documents. The Government responded that there couldn't be that many, because most of Cohen's business didn't involve practicing law, and he only had two clients. Cohen said, no, I have three; the judge asked him who the third was, and Cohen answered Hannity.

I don’t think anyone considers Hannity a “reporter.” Would anyone be shocked to learn he has a bias? Is that something he has hidden?
