PORTLAND, ORE. A federal judge has dismissed a tax evasion charge against a man who describes himself as a Christian who refuses to give money to the government to support abortion.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reported Thursday the judge ruled that the government failed to provide evidence that Michael Bowman tried to conceal or mislead government officials. Prosecutors accused Bowman of not filing an accurate tax return since at least 1997.
Bowman said he's been up front with the Internal Revenue Service, refusing to file a return or pay taxes since 1999 without some accommodation afforded to him for religious beliefs.
The charge was dismissed without prejudice, meaning prosecutors could seek a new indictment. Assistant U.S Attorney Donna Maddux said the government is considering options.

Feds gotta refile.
All of us ( do not have to be Christian )will claim this.
I spent the day itemizing taxable transactions. More than once, I thought about just filing without going through all of the trouble.
Its just going to get spent in all sorts of crap ways.
Does it really matter if they get it all? They are getting enough.
I see big things ahead for the church of IGETTOKEEPMYOWNMONEY
Ummm, what church IS that?
Asking for a friend...

Miami Herald has more details.
Country laws override religious observances. Unfortunately, this has already been breached. The country has implemented Muslim banking: Sharia-compliant banking which follows the rules of Sharia.
No chance at all of that being rolled back. None. The country has already established one religion, over all the others. Illegal and unconstitutional.
I was gonna say—where do I need to go to convert?
What a nightmare this could be.
This man doesn’t want to pay his taxes because his tax money supports abortion.
Someone else will say they won’t pay because they oppose the money going to the military.
Ditto, someone who opposes foreign aid to certain countries.
Ditto, someone who opposes federal aid to education, or food stamps SNAP benefits to illegals, or Section 8 housing, whether people are legal or illegal, or any government program. (fill in the blank)
Heck, if this were allowed, everyone would say they oppose this or that specific government spending, just to trim their tax bill.
If this gets past the 9th circus I’ll be amazed.
As much a we joke about the Amish here, it all goes back to a social security exemption for the self employed Amish.
Abortion is a COMPLETELY different thing than the other examples you listed, (military, foreign aid, etc.) It’s the killing of hundreds of thousands of American babies every year. Three thousand every day.
We pay our taxes, but my conscience hurts over this very issue. This is a small win and probably short-lived, but a win nevertheless.
ah...of course. thanks
Sounds like a plan. Starve the beast.
“Heck, if this were allowed, everyone would say they oppose this or that specific government spending, just to trim their tax bill.”
OR...we could go back to 1912 when Government took NONE of our money and we still had schools, roads, libraries, hospitals, a kick-@ss military, etc.
!@#$%^&*!
I’m no longer a Taxpayer, aside from what I pay in sales taxes (and all of those other hidden taxes for my driver’s license, car tags, etc.) and it feels TERRIFIC!
‘Retired.’ Sold my farm and most of my ‘stuff’ and had no other debt and quit working for taxable income. Won’t draw SS for another 5 years, if then. Highly recommended. The feeling of a THUMB IN THE EYE of Mother Government is just beyond awesome! ;)
I am with you, and have been living like this for quite a while.
we the people are crying out for serious tax reform, flat 10 percent for starters, eliminate the IRS.
Im claiming Christian, PLUS 20 million dependents!
If he was muslimthe 9th would okay it.
