Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) grilled Secretary of State nominee Mike Pompeo during his Senate confirmation hearing Thursday about Pompeo's stated opposition to gay marriage.
Booker was referring to a speech Pompeo made in 2015 while he was a Kansas congressman, which cited a prayer delivered by the Rev. Joe Wright.
"America had worshiped other Gods and called it multiculturalism. Wed endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle, Pompeo said.
"Those are your words," Booker said to Pompeo. "Is being gay a perversion?"
Pompeo replied by stating he had a "clear view" on whether gay marriage was "appropriate" while he was a politician in Kansas, and that he stands by those views today.
Booker continued to press Pompeo, saying he knows same-sex couples within the State Department who were married under Pompeo's leadership.
"You do not believe that should be allowed?" Booker said.
Pompeo answered by saying he treats gay couples who work at the CIA with "the exact same set of rights" as anyone else.
He concluded by saying, "My respect for every individual -- regardless of their sexual orientation -- is the same."
Booker finished by saying to Pompeo that he doesn't think his beliefs reflect the nation's values.

Cory Booker...grrrrr...his IQ is lower than the temperature of dog $hit!
Precisely, Pompeo could easily said, I must deal with a 1 billion plus Muslim world who have deeply held views on this subject. I have not heard you Senator express any hesitation about ending relations with them over this issue. I have yet to hear you reprimand them in such a self righteous way.
Answer: yes.
It’s sad for those who are afflicted but it is a real mental illness - and a dead branch on the family tree.
“I have not heard you Senator express any hesitation about ending relations with them over this issue.”
Correction:
I have not heard you Senator express this viewpoint and seek to end relations with them over this issue.
The Pilgrims didn’t come here because their beliefs represented the country they left.
Since the gay community has embraced the term ‘queer’ - which in its basic meaning is ‘strange or odd from a conventional viewpoint’ - he should simply have said Yes & moved on.
“His beliefs may not reflect liberal values.”
Liberals have no values to reflect, do they?
God set rules against this behavior for a reason. To protect us. And to keep humans from perverting and devaluing their God-given bodies by introducing unnatural relations. When accepted in a culture, it contributes in destroying morality, truth and can lead to the ultimate downfall of a society.
True rebellion against the order of creation.
That being said, what do YOU think Mr. Booker?
Shoulda said: Senator you seem to have a fixation on anal sex between men: what does this have to do with the US State Department?
Oh for gawds sakes. The homosexual obsession continues
Meanwhile NJ burns
No, it is a deviancy. Homo sex is a perversion.
I know we can all come up with comebacks long after they are needed but I wish Pompeo had asked Booker to describe what he considers perversion. I really would like to know. Do they have a ready made answer - what is perverted to a democrat?
Booker reportedly said “”because he will engage in diplomatic relations with countries that oppress the rights of gay people.””
Sounds like a perfect match to me...what’s to argue about?
No kidding, it’s ludicrous.
But Booker thinks he’ll be the next Obama and has a tendency for dramatic, angry outbursts that will get him into the news highlights.
“It is not normal for a man to deposit his seed into the rectal cavity of another man.”
“This kind of questioning and scrutiny is way out of line. The intended message is that public officials need to hold liberal beliefs if they expect to receive senate approval.”
Booker should be censured by the Senate for asking such questions about “Do you believe...” because this is a clear violation of the Constitution, Article VI, Section 3, which states: “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” End of story.
He could have asked whether he would have difficulty supervising homosexuals or would in any way would sexual orientation affect promotability... - but his question was about a candidate for an Executive Office’s belief that ultimately is formed by one’s faith (well, even an atheist could come to a logical conclusion about normalcy and deviation from the norm, and ultimately what is a “perversion”).
But what Booker did is beyond the pale - he questioned a man’s beliefs, he was unconstitutionally placing a religious Test on qualifying for an Office. Pompeo has demonstrated he does not discriminate based on his personal belief, that is the only thing that would have been open for consideration.
“”Those are your words,” Booker said to Pompeo. “Is being gay a perversion?””
I’m glad Pompeo didn’t back down with this priss pants. Pompeo can’t change Supreme Court rulings but he can continue to correctly define “marriage” (and it isn’t two fags who swish down the aisle together).
Good job, Pompeo.
On the day that 51 percent say they believe in X, all who believe in NOT X are not Americans. With this simple rule, we can have a country that is totalitarian.
Booker, beng a left-wing commie bastard, would like that.
Corry “Finocchio” Booker, the truth comes out and he looses his black base...
Not if you’re black and from NJ, it’s the norm.
