London bans “weapons of war”
Glocktalk ^ | April 9,2019

war might he be referring to?

Knives.

And, acid.

“An epidemic of stabbings and acid attacks in London has gotten so bad that London mayor Sadiq Khan is announcing broad new "knife control" policies designed to keep these weapons of war out of the hands of Londoners looking to cause others harm.”

The mayor further tweeted:

“No excuses: there is never a reason to carry a knife. Anyone who does will be caught, and they will feel the full force of the law.”

“Never a reason to carry a knife...”

He’s probably right. If you dared to use one to defend yourself, you would be looking at charges.

The current laws are pretty strict:

A non locking 3” blade seems to be legal to carry. But, that’s about it.

That Greek beggar was probably required to own a spear. Well maybe since he could not afford armor, he probably would have used a sling.

The heavily armed Hoplites were only a part of the army.

The problems in London today are knives and acid (not the LSD variety). When those disappear it will be cricket bats.

Ban any acid stronger than vinegar. But don’t ban the acid throwers oh no.

Cleese did make this stuff up and apparently the British didn't realize it was a comedy routine and have now based their civil and criminal law on Monty Python.

There’s a lot of Monty Python skits that were like that.

Like this one...

“I want to get married.....”

Perhaps the film ratings system should require a warning on comedy sketches.
Especially Monty Python sketches.

WARNING: This sketch is NOT a blueprint for society!

Britain needs common sense sharp stick control. That will solve the problem of feral muzzies running around committing crimes.
