Facebook COO Says Users Should Expect to Pay for Privacy
Fox News ^ | Bradford Betz

Facebook’s second in command Sheryl Sandberg said Friday that users wanting to opt out of having their data used by advertisers will have to pay for that assurance.

The comments came in the wake of revelations that the personal information of 87 million users had been inappropriately used by the data firm Cambridge Analytica in the 2016 election campaign, the New York Post reported.

While different forms of opt-out are already available on Facebook, an opt-out at the highest level “would be a paid product,” Sandberg said during an interview on NBC's "Today" show, the Post reported.

Furthermore, Sandberg suggested that the public has not seen the last of Facebook’s privacy scandal.

I suppose if anyone sets up a fake account with false data they are committing fraud and Zuckerberg is the victim.

“Does this mean I would have to pay for each of my fake accounts?”

of course not. no need for privacy for fake accounts. the beauty of fake accounts is that FakeBook is free to sell all the fake data from them that their hearts desire.

still, it’s best to close them off to the world as much as possible, or haters can get in and do stuff that causes FakeBook to ban them. that happened to one of my fake accounts before i wised up when a bunch of Muslim Turks did that to me ... now no one can see anything i do via FakeBook on my other fake account because it has no friends and no one else can see anything about it, which means no one except FakeBook can see anything there ...

I never post on Facebook and my one account has a fake name, DOB and single use e-mail address. Never joined Twitter and see no reason to. I have real friends not Facebook/Twitter friends. I am not so insecure that I worry about the number of electronic friends or followers that I don’t have, hehehe.

VISUALIZE THIS SCENE.

Small child and father have dialogue.

CHILD- Dad, I’m considering a career in organized crime.

FATHER- Government or Private Sector?

The Stasi, and other police states, had to follow people around, listen to their conversations, interview people, and have the population squeal on each other.

Very labor intensive and costly!!

Today, folks document every waking moment and upload that private info to social media, along with where they are every minute of every day and who they are with.

Sooo easy for the CIA/NSA and the rest of Government to spy on the Citizens and persuade free people to accept marxist and communist and globalist ideas

Extortion. Facebook sells your info, then demands you pay for the privacy you should have originally had.

Anybody with even a portion of their brain cells still working should run, not walk away fro shitbook as fast as possible! Explain to me why people can't just send emails to those they want to share with? Is it some sort of affliction that where someone needs to have their life viewed by others, some sort of self importance issue? And I never understood this ridiculous friending, I knew people who were so wrapped up in how many people that they didn't even know had friended them.

And all so some asshat liberal can have complete control of their information and make billions off of it. PATHETIC, is the only word I can think of.

Two days ago I deleted my FB account, permanently. I only used it for a couple months back in 2010. I just recently figured out how to do a permanent delete.

Remember you have to stay away from FB for 14 days. Otherwise, the dear ones at FB will reactivate your account.

“One-click” right to disappear is a must have.

Me too. I am done helping that arrogant geek brat get rich, and I am sure as hell not paying for Facebook in order to protect what privacy I can recover.
Deleted FB a few days ago.
I shouldn’t have to wait two weeks..., that is just for them to be able to take advantage of the weak of mind and character to change their mind.

No regrets from me!

Fourth amendment issues aside, the easiest way to avoid FB sharing your data is to not use FB.

That letter scumbag Teddy wrote to the Soviet Kremlin apologizing for Reagan and letting them know that the Rats were doing all in their power to get rid of him, was outright treason.

fake FB and twitter accounts are useful for logging-in to various sites for comments without having to actually establish accounts on the websites: millions of websites accept the FB and/or twitter login as if they were their own.

that’s the only reason i have them.

(btw, my fav fake birthdays are Jan 1 and April 1 ... it’s foolish to give a real birthday under any circumstance anyway since birthday and social security number are generally all that are necessary for identity theft ...)

I like that recent saying, “if you’re not paying for the product, you are the product”

They haven’t made a dime off of me.

Of course my wife loves her some facebook games and will pay to play. At least there’s a product that she chooses to pay for. Nothing wrong with that.
