Judge Stephen Reinhardt of the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit has died, a court spokesperson confirmed. He was 87.
A liberal champion, Reinhardt was appointed to the bench by President Carter in 1980.
He authored key liberal court opinions on hot-button topics ranging from abortion and marriage equality to assisted suicide and immigration. At the same time, the opinions made him a target of criticism from conservative corners and of regular reversal from the Supreme Court.

Exactly. The only people who still hold jobs at 87 are judges, Senators and Congressmen who really don’t have to do much to collect a check and influence policy. Plus, it seems a little strange to me when someone wants to continue working at that age. If you have to work, that’s one thing, but most people who don’t have to work want to retire and spend their golden years traveling and being with family. This guy wanted to hold on to power as long as he could to continue screwing up America.
I’ve tried to keep religion generally out of my comments, but here’s how I REALLY feel (just had this conversation with family members yesterday & we all feel the same way):
The Democrats/Liberals are the servants of Satan. I have often said that Hillary is the handmaiden of Satan.
All of them ... Hillary, Hogg, the recently deceased 9th circuit judge, Obama, et al will be judged by the one JUDGE who is the final authority. While I do not know for certain the outcome, I suspect it will be the one that you laid out.
Tis indeed a good friday .....
Hopefully Lucifer is treating this dirtbag to an eternity of experiencing first hand the horrors of being aborted.
Over and over and over.
I can’t agree more on that. If you’d told me 10, 20, 30 yrs ago I would be praising God for Donald Trump, I’d have had either you or me committed. Now I thank God every day. These judge selections are one of our best guarantees for the future too.
I’ve been admonishing myself all day not to say this but, “Good Riddance”
I would like to see an appointment to the supreme court be for 18 years. Every 2 years one of them gets replaced. 18 years is plenty of time, and it would make the vacancies predictable.
No, it doesn't. The law exists to protect everyone, and all are equal before the law, including the wealthy and strong, not just the weak and helpless. Justice is blind. The law shouldn't be skewed to favor the "voiceless and vulnerable," and the fact that Reinhardt did so is why he was so frequently reversed by the Supreme Court.
Some idiots want Lyn’ Ted on a bench, how about this new opening?
That makes at least two vacancies on that court. Didn’t another judge resign at the end of year for sexually assaulting his interns?
We will have to watch that he doesn’t continue to vote!
