Attorney General Jeff Sessions names prosecutor to investigate FBI allegations.
CNBC ^ | March 29, 2018 | Christine Wang

Attorney General Jeff Sessions designated U.S. attorney John Huber as the prosecutor tasked with looking into allegations of abuse of power at the FBI.

In a Thursday letter to Congress, Sessions said this appointment was made in response to requests for a special counsel investigation of the claims. The attorney general said, however, that Huber will be the one determining "whether any matters merit the appointment of a special counsel....In his letter, Sessions said he will take the necessary actions to defend the integrity of the Justice Department and its work.

"We understand that the Department is not above criticism and it can never be that the Department conceals errors when they occur," Sessions wrote.

The attorney general said he expects the department's staff to operate with the "highest level of integrity, ethic, and professionalism."

"If anyone falls short of these standards, I will fulfill my responsibility to take necessary action to protect the integrity of our work," he said.

First off, you're above silly direct insults. You seem to have a pretty good handle on things; suggest refraining from reactive posts.

Here's the thing - I was a very early Trump adopter: first rally in 2015. But, the questions we had then still remain, ignored due to the urgency of the threat to the republic.

Question 1: how do we actually know what Trump was/wasn't doing in terms of managing his businesses eg meeting payroll?

Question 2: more loaded, no one wants to go there - Reagan had his 'kitchen cabinet'. Long time friends, associates and supporters, dozens, hundreds in fact, willing to go to bat and defend/consult. Where are Trump's? It's like Hussein - a cipher, with no past other than chicks, BKs and media.

Now, I couldn't possibly give a sh!t about any of that if we saw results. I'm still on the fence with respect to Sessions. I'm the least dogmatic person around - I assess everything, both sides, and measure, think, consider. The bottom line is, Trump is going to have to act; time is running out.

What kind of support does he have? Is his failure to seize the initiative an accurate measure of his lack of support? Why does he suffer this - what do insiders know that we don't?

Sara Carter reported that Huber has been working this issue since last Fall, and that five different FBI Field Offices have related investigations underway.

Sara's source was an unnamed source from the DOJ. Greg Jarrett and Judge Jeanine weren't buying it.

Really, they (Sessions, Trump) would have to be pikers to not see the election schedule, and know that the biggest eathshakers need to happen in September and October.

Wishful thinking. Nothing will happen until after the midterms. October Surprise arrests would put the media into hysteria and the beltway GOP into Never Trump overdrive. Trump isn’t on the ballot and he is deferring to the GOP.

All bets are off after the midterms, IMO. I expect Trump will fire Mueller then and ask for Sessions resignation.

The FBI field office in Little Rock has been aggressively investigating the Clinton “Foundation” for some time now. The Clintons are despised in Arkansas

Watch for parallel investigations. If Hillary doesn’t get nailed for her national security violations, eg treason, don’t be surprised if Little Rock takes them down on RICO charges.

Trying the case in Little Rock would be far more favorable to the prosecution than a case tried in upstate NY.

1) Note that this started in NOVEMBER 2017. Huber has been working since then. No leaks.

2) The grand jury was empaneled last week. No leaks.

3) Sessions does NOT say there won’t be a Special Counsel. He says he isn’t appointing one til Huber reports.

4) Then there is this little gem buried in the letter:

A little Easter Egg in Sessions’ letter:

“The Inspector General may, under appropriate circumstances, make information available to the public EVEN IF NO CRIMINAL OR DISCIPLINARY ACTION IS RECOMMENDED.”

Translation: McCabre and Combover, even if some how Satan intervenes and saves you from jail, we will make sure that Mike Flynn and Robin Gritz have more than enough evidence to sue you into oblivion.

And how, exactly will they ‘invalidate’ the election?

Mueller is going to give the repubikans in the house a legal fig leaf to impeach Trump and they will.

Why would the GOP impeach Trump when they get everything they want? Look at the omnibus bill. Trump is totally hamstrung now. McConnell likes to operate in the dark. No way he wants GOP fingerprints over a Trump impeachment conviction.

Final straw for me with Sessions, this is the same as doing nothing. A Obama appointee being appointed by an Obama appointee (Rosenstein made this decision not Sessions).

A special prosecutor outside the dept needed to be appointed and now we know that won’t happen.

Sessions is in way over his head and he is letting Rosenstein make all the decisions.

Hopefully Trump will finally have a enough and fire both Sessions and Rosenstein.

Shallow lightweights do not break into Manhattan real estate development, something Fred Trump BEGGED his son not to do because he knew how vicious that world was, not only to survive, but to dominate it.

‘Shallow lightweight’ indeed.

But what if Trump really is a shallow lightweight, and was just mouthing the words that garnered support & approval to satisfy a juvenile, narcissistic personality?

At the beginning of the very first Republican debate, when Trump answered Megyn Kelly’s attack with statements like “... just Rosie O’Donnell” or “there’s very little room in my life for political correctness” there’s no WAY he could have known these words would “gather support & approval” - which is exactly what they did. So much for the theory that Trump tells people what they want to hear.

Huber essentially IS a special Counsel, minus all the bells and whistles. He has the same power to gather evidence and prosecute as a special counsel. The good news is that he was likely appointed months ago, under the radar. My guess is he’s close to filing charges or Sessions wouldn’t have decided to make his name public.

All of what you say I hope is true. But, given that he is an Obama appointee, I’m rather skeptical.

Let me know when it is the US Attorney General's job to charge people with crimes -- personally...

The USAG is not a Duke DA...

Have you whiners not noticed that he has a bit of a department and staff at his disposal? And, that -- at this stage in his career -- he doesn't need headline cases.

~~~~~~~~
Much of the childish impatience -- and ignorance of how things work -- on these AG threads -- is embarrassing...
>>Sessions’ language is of one who is attempting to wiggle out of holding anyone accountable. He is merely trying to run out the clock for the deep state and bury evidence.<<
The army of Sessions cheerleaders around here think this latest subterfuge by Sleepy proves he’s really hot on trail of the Deep State traitors. Gullible.
There you go again. I was simply responding to a gratuitous insult directed at POTUS. He’s the first man in American history elected to that post with no military or political experience. If that doesn’t vouch for his abilities nothing does.
I think it’s pretty clear the “Trump is a moron” Never Trump poison has infected his admin. Everybody knows better than Trump and he is unable to find loyal lieutenants. Tillerson, Mattis, etc. All undermine the President’s policy agenda. That is a recipe for disaster and combined with Congressional opposition from his own party it makes near impossible for him to govern.
We saw with the omnibus bill that Trump is not superman. I expect more of the same as long as the Mueller soft coup continues.
“John Huber of Utah?”
It ain’t going to be a Joisey Sorprano State or DC jury handling the indictments!
John Huber has been on the job! Indictments are coming! The indictments are coming!
