Washington, D.C. (Accredited Times) We are in an extreme emergency, comrades. I repeat. An extreme emergency. Mayday, mayday, mayday. All progressives to xer posts. All progressives to xer posts.
OK, now sit down for a minute because I dont want you to faint.
Donald Trump is building the wall. Yes, the full f*cking wall. As in: Wooohoooo, Murica First! Lets kick out the Moslims and Mexicans! MAGA! That wall. We are now officially in the greatest crisis since Joan Rivers disclosed Michael Obamas sex change.
After Congress passed the massive Consolidated Appropriations Act, both the accredited and unaccredited media told us that progressives won bigly because the Act contained no funding for the wall. Nancy Pelosi even assured us that Democrats won explicit language restricting border construction to the same see-through fencing that was already authorized under current law.
Then Trump perplexingly signed the Act into law. Had Trump betrayed his America First base? Had Trump seen the error of his ways and become a progressive? Apparently not, because the orange bastard is now building the very wall that Nancy Pelosi said he couldnt build. Oh, and by the way, progressives just gave away the only real leverage that we had to force Trump to pass an amnesty for DREAMers. In other words, this is a complete f*cking nightmare.
Let me walk you through everything.
As an initial matter, Pelosi is technically correct that the Consolidated Appropriations Act contains explicit language imposing restrictions on border wall construction with respect to certain funds. Section 230 of the Act (starting on page 673) states: Of the amount made available in this Act under U.S. Customs and Border ProtectionProcurement, Construction, and Improvements, $1,571,000,000 shall be available only as follows . . . (emphasis added). Section 230 then lists a limited number of border fencing projects, including $251,000,000 for approximately 14 miles of secondary fencing . . . along the southwest border in the San Diego Sector, $445,000,000 for 25 miles of primary pedestrian levee fencing along the southwest border in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, $196,000,000 for primary pedestrian fencing along the southwest border in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, and $445,000,000 for replacement of existing primary pedestrian fencing along the southwest border. Overall, Pelosi is right that the Act substantially restricts Trumps ability to use this money for the Great Wall of Trump.
Trump, however, has apparently outsmarted Pelosi and the Democrats which probably shocks you as much as it shocks us. Although the Act undoubtedly restricts Trumps ability to use certain U.S. Customs and Border Protection funds for the wall, nothing stops Trump from using the massive military funds that he also received under the Act for exactly the same purpose. And now Trump has flat-out stated via Twitter (where else?) that he plans on doing just that:
Because of the $700 & $716 Billion Dollars gotten to rebuild our Military, many jobs are created and our Military is again rich. Building a great Border Wall, with drugs (poison) and enemy combatants pouring into our Country, is all about National Defense. Build WALL through M! - 6:33 AM - Mar 25, 2018
Yes, you read that correctly. Trump has ordered his deplorables to build the WALL through the M i.e., the military.
Last year, Democrats attempted to remove Trumps ability to spend defense authorizations for border security. But, shockingly, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and his goons on the House Rules Committee removed the Democrats proposed prohibition from the final bill. As a result, there is literally nothing stopping Trump from using ordinary defense funding for border security and defensive fortifications along the Southern border.
Complete. F*cking. Disaster.
Progressives, of course, can challenge Trump in court. But with only four Democrat-appointed Supreme Court Justices, it would be extremely difficult to block construction, particularly given that the President, as Commander-in-Chief, has broad discretion in spending defense appropriations for fortifications and national security.
In yet another tweet, Trump also promised to start construction immediately, noting that the $1.6 billion is a downpayment and that the rest of the money will come (presumably from defense appropriations in light of his prior tweet):
Much can be done with the $1.6 Billion given to building and fixing the border wall. It is just a down payment. Work will start immediately. The rest of the money will come - and remember DACA, the Democrats abandoned you (but we will not)! 6:42 AM - Mar 25, 2018
We are seriously screwed. This is honestly more sickening than the dolphin rape article that MDB posted the other day. I think Im going to throw up.
$251,000,000 for approximately 14 miles of secondary fencing...”
Pretty sure I could build 14 miles of wall 40 feet high and 30 feet deep for $40,000,000....
Never mind that if you want something procured and accomplished, the absolute best way to do so in our Government is to order the Military to do it. They know contracts, they get results.
Brilliant, actually.
Aaaahhhh.. lamentations and grief prevail
Faaaantastic!
Think Omnibus Defense Appropriation
Customs and Border Protection has been using Predators and other drones for over 5 years. Much cheaper to operate than hilos and have excellent loader times.
So far Trump has shown no willingness to tell a renegade judge to stuff it.
___________
Right. He either rewrites the order to nullify their objections and by the time they respond with a second injunction, his lawyers are winning at the next level courts and through SCOTUS with decisions in Trump’s favor.
Why waste energy on pissants?
Yep, sitting right in downtown Indy.
I am up in Westfield.
"please post some pictures of the current wall construction"
The thirty foot bollards with paved patrol road, that seem to be the new Trump-era standard, are seriously effective barriers. They are made of heavy steel pipe (stronger than streetlight poles), filled with concrete and rebar, set four inches apart. The big selling points of that design are:
1. See through provides early warning of anyone approaching the fence, and lets Border patrol know exactly what they are facing. Being visible deters a lot of folks from attempting to climb or breach.
2. Much harder to breach (cut or break through), quicker and cheaper to repair.
3. Long lasting/low maintenance. The surface rusts, but the structure will stand for many decades if unattended.
4. Effective. Crossings drop off to almost nothing where these barriers are installed. They are scary tall - most people who fall from thirty feet will die from the fall (almost none will die from an eighteen foot fall, that used to be considered the "big" barriers).
Here go some of the new thirty foot bollards, going up in Calexico right now:
Be patient. It’s a military operation. Photos could be sensitive.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking.
Thats the most obvious, particularly considering the context of the tweet and the character limit, but it could also be code form something else."
If he is going to be using prison chain gangs, "M" could definitely be a reference to Moochelle...
I love the way he keeps rubbing the rats nose in it. :)
Oh its real. Dims and media are starting to realize the got Trumped. Could someone please apply a ball gag to Ann Coulter anytime anything important happens. Being out in public with a ball gag is less embarrassing than her opening her mouth and saying stupid stuff.

I started referring to the whiners as the Chicken Little Brigade after the tantrum about the proposed DACA deal.
I think I’m going to start referring to the weak-kneed twits as the Traitor’s Brigade now. These are people who would have deserted the Continental Army after the Battle of Long Island or would have tried to surrender to the Third Reich after Dunkirk.
The MQ-1 Predator will be retired/replaced this summer by the MQ-9 Reaper. Wouldn’t the Border Patrol love a squadron of these to supplement operations?
Love that!
