Trump: Border wall construction will start on Monday
Washington examiner ^

Posted on 03/24/2018 5:00:01 PM PDT by MNDude

President Trump said Friday that construction of his promised border wall would start "immediately" after signing the omnibus spending bill, which included $1.6 billion in funding for the wall.

"We're going to be starting work literally on Monday," Trump said during an event Friday at the White House. "We have a lot of money coming to the border."

Trump had threatened earlier Friday to veto the spending bill Congress passed on Thursday because it did not include sufficient funding for the wall and because it omitted expiring protections for young, undocumented immigrants.

Not possible. Congress critters had enough votes to override the veto, which would make Trump look bad from both angles.

Is that before or after they over rode his veto which they had the votes to do?

Does anyone here follow Thomas Wictor on Twitter? He has been posting some incredible things on this, and a few other topics. I won’t elaborate because I have not determined his credibility. I will say though that he really seems to do some exhausting research and provides links to many events that go completely unreported.

Maybe a ‘GoFundMe’ for a border wall?

Sounds good to me.

1) The GoFundMe accounting software needs to be be able to accommodate enough zeros. :)

2) President Trump needs to like the idea and agree. I think he would.

3) What is the policy on the receipt of donations? On donations to a specific government program? A specific line item account needs to be set up in the right department to receive funds as they come in. I assume there’s some money that goes to the GoFundMe website owner. I have heard of people leaving the U.S. govt as a beneficiary of their estate, so there’s precedent for the government receiving public money that wasn’t a tax payment. The legalities need to be checked. It would not be a good outcome if the money just went into “U.S. Treasury Department.”

4) Would the Democrats dare pass a bill saying it would be illegal to donate toward the accomplishment of President Trump’s promised wall, so much needed? Such an act would render them an enemy of the people, because it would no longer be about affording the construction and maintenance of the wall. If the Democrats cared at all, they’d allow people to donate toward this when filing their taxes.

Thanks. I apologize to you. You have your job to do and I respect that. The non veto REALLY got to me and it took the entire weekend to calm myself down I was so upset. Didn’t mean to take it out on you. Please forgive.

Limbaugh, and a lot of other people, did serious damage to their credibility on Friday

Limbaugh nor Levin supported DJT's campaign until the final hour. Keep that in mind.

It’s unfortunate that Trump exempted Mexico from his proposed tariffs. Other than heavily taxing remittances sent to Mexicans by family in the US, that would be the most reliable way to make Mexico pay for the wall.

Rush supported Trump all along, and extremely effectively.

He is continuing to do so now.

Some people did not understand his methods, of often explaining Trump’s actions. I know, because I tried to point this out many times on FR.

In other words, if you were not a regular listener, and just heard the whining on FR ... then it is understandable how you would not have realized this.

BTW, TODAY Rush is walking it back, as I predicted Friday. He just completed an exposition of how Trump may have outwitted the Rats AGAIN. (Using M to build wall.)

No Rush didn’t. He got on board sooner than Levin, but he was “neutral” for months on end until Trump won the republican nomination.

And I listened to both every day, going back to the early days of the primaries.

But I'm glad Rush is walking it back. (I don't listen until the afternoon.)

Glad you like it.. seems to get the point across ;^)

Please feel free to spread it far and wide. I threw it out there in posts, hoping that others would use it, but I don’t think anyone ever noticed it :p

Demand the wall!!

They are only exempt while negotiating for a bilateral trade agreement or if an agreement is reached by May.

I think POTUS thought the American people & the Military were too important for him to have a pointless hissy fit when he couldn’t win. That would have damaged his brand as well but I think the most important too him was not to risk the Military funding.

The Congress would have promptly overridden the veto and he would have looked like a tool. Now he looks like a leader who did his best with a bad situation and if/when he pulls a rabbit out of his hat and gets the military to build or finance the wall from its allotment he will look like a star.

Standing on sure to lose principles and $2 might buy a cup of coffee. Trump is about WINNING, not losing on unwinnable principles. It is those businessman genes.

I agree with you he was officially neutral.

But I always felt he was secretly pulling for Trump, and that his “neutral” comments were extremely helpful.

It was as-if he recognized something of himself in the great showman, Trump.

“But I always felt he was secretly pulling for Trump, and that his “neutral” comments were extremely helpful.”

snort. If Rush was “secretly pulling” it sure was a well kept secret.

Rush first had a serious man-crush on the odious Marco Rubio, whom Rush keeps unaccountably touting as a Great Conservative Hope.

And then when it became obvious that the majority of the conservative electorate has no use for Ricky Ricardo’s long lost poolboy, Rush turned to Cruz, whom his brother supported.

He does deserve credit for never joining the neverTrump crusade along with Levin, but Rush certainly didn’t stick his neck out like Hannity, who for all his silliness was the strongest Trump supporter among all the talkers.

You can complain somewhere else basically bramps

This is so deja vu

Posters here really detest dissent

We’re back in ra ra mode

Simply have to believe in Trump and support him regardless.....if you criticize you’re a never trumper and to gangs may press for a zot

Free Republis drifts from primary fights to campaign nominee support to governing term discipline ......yet again

I understand campaign solidification behind the nominee

I don’t get this governing term discipline

It’s ok to disagree with him signing ominbus and to discount these myths popping up

The rest is just hoping and wishing

There is no logical way not to view this weeks budget capitulation reluctant or not as failure at least for now

But wardaddy he can divert funds...no he cannot....the left will judge shop and get in an injunction that will take months or more to circumvent if he does

He needed congressional funding ...he didn’t get it

Congress voted for a wall or a firmed up border ten years ago

They never funded it

Now they won’t find trump either

We control both houses and were losing on his marquee issue

the wall....

How we overcome this I do not know.....

After 2018 baring a miracle Trump will be on defense even more than now with a hostile House..

Lord I hope not....but it looks that way

If that happens this was our last chance

No question everything is against him and despite that he’s acccomplished a lot

But I fear securing the border is not going to happen...he lacks the political power to do it by himself and neither the courts or legislative branches want it

They want a cheap labor non white America
