Trump: Border wall construction will start on Monday
Washington examiner ^

Posted on 03/24/2018 5:00:01 PM PDT by MNDude

President Trump said Friday that construction of his promised border wall would start "immediately" after signing the omnibus spending bill, which included $1.6 billion in funding for the wall.

"We're going to be starting work literally on Monday," Trump said during an event Friday at the White House. "We have a lot of money coming to the border."

Trump had threatened earlier Friday to veto the spending bill Congress passed on Thursday because it did not include sufficient funding for the wall and because it omitted expiring protections for young, undocumented immigrants.

Who am I? I have been a volunteer moderator for the last 11 years. Other moderators with more tenure than me nominated me. I log all moderation actions, nothing is done in the dark. Jim can always override my actions, other moderators can disagree if I am out of line and I will self-correct if that happens, and I operate under Jim’s guidelines. I took out one poster with a 2012 signup who hadn’t done jack until the last two days who went ballistic with over the top rants. Old timers here can vent all they want as I can tell from their posting history that they are here for the duration and not just to stir up agitation, but I have done this long enough to smell a lame concern troll from thirty paces. Yeah, that is who I am.

If you look at the pictures of the samples [prototypes] you will see one just like them “only ten feet taller”

When the President went to Southern CA to view the prototypes he even mentioned that the larger the cylinder on the top was, it made it much more difficult to get over the wall/fence. I like it.

I say if you took away the bureaucratic overhead, kleptocrats skimming from the top, and enviro impact studies, 1.6 billion would be enough to build ~50% of the wall.

Obama spent over $100 billion looking for global warming and didn’t accomplish anything.

The wall is a bargain and an enormous cost savings.

He declared a State of Emergency on December 21, 2017. He has it all under control, including what happened on Friday. But he’s playing a little rope-a-dope to let them think they rolled him. They are in for a shock.

[B]ased on the price of the Israeli security barrier,” the National Journal estimated that 2,000 miles of fence will cost the United States $6.4 billion.

That’s fence dude. Not millions of yards of concrete and prevailing wages. Please wKe up from your dream.

If he does I’ll be there. “Where’s my DACA Chuck” :)

Way to go, sargon. Exposing the sunshine patriots who enjoy complaining about an occasional rain.

Thought Mexico was paying for it all. Doesn’t need the crappy spending bill he back-stabbed us with to start the funding of the wall. Maybe he has a Lego set he’s playing with.

The plan has always been that we will initially pay for construction and that Mexico will reimburse us for that cost.

Many ways to accomplish that. Tax on remittances. Work permit fees. Taxes on DACA beneficiaries. Import duties.

Are you willing to bet that he can't do it?

No, the plan was for higher bollards that in net effect are closer to a wall. The existing style let agents see across, but they are mere fencing — not high enough to be very effective.

Something else to add, while I'm thinking about it; Congress once again has punted their fiscal responsibilities into the lap of a President. Yeah, it was like, here's the keys, here's the checkbooks, here's a list of suggestions, see ya after the recess, bye! And Trump is going to have to be slick and wary - very. As we have seen time and time again, what was permissible under obama is not tolerated under Trump. Though this might be something of a gift, it is also a trap. Not only will there be scrutiny over everything he does - or doesn't do - with it, they'll be trying to come up with stuff that will look improper or illegal to hang him with. Essentially giving him the treasury to do what he will with, they'll try to paint him as someone running wild, being stupid, with *YOUR MONEY*. At least I'd bet that's what they're hoping to do to him in the long run. Slick & wary is what he must maintain to be - he has a highly concentrated minefield to sail through now.

The last couple of days have been more than a roller coaster for many here on FR. The time leading up to the last national election didn’t seen to have this much uncertainty.

As I spent some time lately attempting to catch up on all that had happened w/ PDJT and our country I cannot help but think how carrying the weight of running the country with too few at his side and no one to take a turn.

As I read history and feel the dispare that Washington felt when hope for our cause had ebbed to lows that caused so many to leave the active fight. The parellel to so many instances in the scriptures when the Lord’s leaders were alone and called upon Him for strength that they would be able to do His will. I can’t help but wonder if this is why when I saw PDJT in his presser during the signing he looks so tired. There are dark times here for our country, and it’s most certainly to develope to darker time. The fair weather and its’ hosts’ have (or need to) left.

Here.I.stand

I’m not certain what will happen, but I FEEL, and have had confirmed that what is best WILL transpire.

The President hasn’t asked me, and he doesn’t have to, but in case anyone ever may care to know, when the ensign is raised

Here.I.stand

I ask whom else?

Trump has been talking about a Mars landing. He would love to get the credit for something that big. Regarding walls, there are already a number of miles already in place. The new funding will add more, and most large projects are funded over several years.
