Trump: Border wall construction will start on Monday

President Trump said Friday that construction of his promised border wall would start "immediately" after signing the omnibus spending bill, which included $1.6 billion in funding for the wall.

"We're going to be starting work literally on Monday," Trump said during an event Friday at the White House. "We have a lot of money coming to the border."

Trump had threatened earlier Friday to veto the spending bill Congress passed on Thursday because it did not include sufficient funding for the wall and because it omitted expiring protections for young, undocumented immigrants.

Hey yeah, thanks for the post - excellent stuff. Keep spreading the word. I didn't like how it initially went down - how Congress did it was like a shabby in-your-face FU, and then they fled town. But Trump is a man who has excelled his entire life at taking lemons and making lemonade out of them and I was confident that out of sight below the surface was a plan - there's always a plan - and he has been doing a bit of misdirection while exploiting the gun control distraction to get things lined up. We didn't like it when obama had the keys and discretion - now it's gonna be the left's turn. Soon.

its not that he was stupid to sign it, was simply that the prez must prioritize give the constraints of having to act as a constitutional rather than as an absolute head of state.

given the world situation and the threats we face i’m glad that the military will be funded for sure, and in time the border security issue will work itself out.

What do you mean there was “no upside for him to sign it?”

Our extremely depleted military will be rebuilt and our servicemen and women will be getting a much-deserved and overdue pay raise.

Also, something I haven’t seen mentioned much is that the Palestinian Authority had their US aid to “play nice” cut off the moment he signed the bill.

I find it astonishing how some conservatives are saying that “Trump betrayed us,” when they know how much he reveres our military and has continuously said that they were his first priority.
