f you dont know, maybe you should. Her name is Valerie Thompson. She crashed her motorcycle Monday at the World Speed Trials at Lake Gairdner in South Australia. She was going 343 miles per hour at the time. The tail of her vehicle, called BUB Seven Streamliner, became airborne at the four-mile mark of the 12-mile run and her braking parachute deployed.
Thompson was trying to break the land speed record of 376.363 miles per hour. If she had finished the course she would have broken her own record for women of 304.263 miles per hour.
The bike left a mile-long debris trail. Thompson walked away. Afterward she said, Today didnt go as planned. I always said that crashing was not on my bucket list, but I did it. It doesnt feel very good because at 343 miles per hour, standing here talking to you is pretty, truly amazing. Sturgis Hall of Fame
BUB Seven is a red, pointy-nosed two-wheeler made of carbon fiber. It reportedly has a drag coefficient of .08 which is very efficient for a two-wheeled vehicle. It is powered by a turbocharged V4 engine that makes 500 horsepower. Thompson sits in an enclosed cockpit. It was built by Denis Manning. After the crash he said, All the safety stuff we designed worked.
Thompson is older than she looks. She used to be a banker. She started racing motorcycles when she was 37. Her first real bike was a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. She used to ride with men. She scared them. They thought she rode out of control so she took her motorcycle to a track to see what it would do. Her first drag bike was a turbocharged V-Rod. She broke 153 mph on that in All Harley Drag Racing Association competition.

0bama rides bicycles like a girl.
Why are there separate records for men and women? The bikes are the same...the track is the same. I thought women were just as good as men. Why the different category?
Not many motorcyclists switch to 2nd gear at 145 mph.
Who taught you that?
Your Better Half?
Depends on the event, but at some motorcycle races/classes the women have an advantage over most men as they weigh less. At others, the female riders often don’t have the strength to operate the bike quite the same as men.
That said, there are some *very* good female riders out there right now. Elena Myers comes to mind immediately. She’s working her way up the ladder and I expect she will someday win a WSB or MotoGP podium outright despite the fact that no concessions or handicaps will be given to her.

No. I just happened to watch Ladra Croft and Wonderwoman. :)
Obama pitches like a girl!
Looks more like a rocket-car than any bike I’ve ever seen or rode.
This Wonderwoman?
Well my sister was once bitten by a moose.
Good point.
She’s the Governor of Vermont in “Super Troopers” and the second one coming out soon.
Obama does everything like a girl. It’s what girlie men do.
I liked her better in “Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw”
Ain’t many 50 year olds that have walked away from a crash at 340+ mph.
Even fewer 50 year old women.
My kinda gal.
I love a fast woman.
She is incredible. Last video shows full run at just under 300 and that thing handles like a scalpel under her.
