broken her own record for women of 304.263 miles per hour

Why are there separate records for men and women? The bikes are the same...the track is the same. I thought women were just as good as men. Why the different category?

Depends on the event, but at some motorcycle races/classes the women have an advantage over most men as they weigh less. At others, the female riders often don’t have the strength to operate the bike quite the same as men.

That said, there are some *very* good female riders out there right now. Elena Myers comes to mind immediately. She’s working her way up the ladder and I expect she will someday win a WSB or MotoGP podium outright despite the fact that no concessions or handicaps will be given to her.
