Trump signs $1.3 trillion spending bill despite veto threat on Twitter

Just hours after threatening a veto, President Trump said Friday afternoon that he had signed the sweeping $1.3 trillion spending bill passed by Congress early Friday and averted a government shutdown. In a morning tweet, Trump said he might veto the omnibus bill because it does nothing to address the fate of young undocumented immigrants known as “dreamers” and does not fully fund his border wall. But speaking to reporters at the White House about four hours later, Trump said he had decided to sign the bill despite his reservations, arguing that it provides much-needed funding for the military, including a pay increase for troops and new equipment.Just hours after threatening a veto, President Trump said Friday afternoon that he had signed the sweeping $1.3 trillion spending bill passed by Congress early Friday and averted a government shutdown.

You are so right. Yet what do we have, a bunch of children throwing themselves on the floor having temper tantrums.

Thank you for your voice of reason. I don’t like all his choices but overall I am very pleased with all he’s accomplished

My first wife:
Added $60k to our family income.

Gave me 2 great kids.

Arranged to sell our first house for a newer, stylish house.

...but then she cheated on me, divorced me and wiped me out financially.

See what I’m saying?

It will be different next year and he’ll have more political strength to push back against the Rats and feckless GOPe.

Huh?

Where is that political strength going to come from? Do you think a magical band of Trump-like candidates is going to rise up and topple incumbent Republicans in primaries this year? LOL.

“Anyone should, on balance, be thrilled with what Trump has accomplished in 14 months. It easily surpasses what Reagan accomplished in his first 14 months, But, he needs more conservatives in Congress to get the rest of his agenda passed.”

I’ll be happy when I see one guilty party twisting in the wind. Lois Lerner, Hillary, Comey, Mueller, V Jarrett, Holder and on and on and on . . .

I am not stupid enough to believe that justice is so slow — or inefficient — not to have nailed even one of these obviously guilty.

And now this democrat spending bill shoved down our throats.

The swamp is consuming our Constitution and Republic. With the help of Trump.

I am not thrilled, Kasan. I am not tired of winning. Neither are you.

Trump had no choice.

Yep. We are a few months before the midterms. No way the Surrender Party was going to fight this battle. A general can only do so much with an AWOL army. I’m going to trust him that he got the best deal possible. That’s all we can do, really.

Then he should have let congress override..And then it would be on them.

After a month or more of GOP Civil War. The Dems would have twisted the knife on this for a LONG time.

That is the ONLY possible reason I can think of to excuse him for this. That he is going to need the military to be fully-funded in the immediate future for something BIG.

That is not a very reassuring thought either.

The wall? That’s important to me too but that is NOT the very basis and core of why I voted for him. I saw that MANY OR MOST here were dancing when he got the SCOTUS pick et al with “winning” but let’s see how you fare when EVERYONE IN the govt is fighting you 24/7. It’s a long game and would you prefer a Hillary win? He’s got 2 years more and with these many enemies, who do you think you would fare in his place?

He has a bigger and more decisive battle planned.

They know it and they desperately fear losing it like they know they will

History is the best predictor of future performance. If you’re a pussy today, then tomorrow...

Is Trump on the ballot in November? No. Is Congress? Yes. Now you can unbunch your panties and support him in this historic battle. Or be a surrender monkey. The choice is yours.

I agree with that but Trump could have veto’d in hopes of getting a better deal. That action would have thrilled his voters, and shaken the establishment. Then ride the shutdown for a while and make your case to the voters over and over again about how corrupt and disgusting the bill was. If after that he cannot get anything better, then and only then he would sign.

I guess my “favorite” part was when he said something to the effect of, “I won’t do this again! Don’t expect me to do this again!”

Really? So it’s only this one time you’re screwing everyone who believed that “Drain The Swamp” B.S.? Well then, no problem, Mr. President, no problem!

I feel the same way.

Schumer and Pelosi might feel like they won a big battle on the budget. Sooner or later the DACA litigation is going to be decided in Trump’s favor.

Trump will have immigration reform and wall leverage then. He’ll get what he wants and the dreamers will be deported when they break a law.
