Trump signs $1.3 trillion spending bill despite veto threat on Twitter
Washington Post ^ | March 23, 2018 | John Wagner and Mike DeBonis

Just hours after threatening a veto, President Trump said Friday afternoon that he had signed the sweeping $1.3 trillion spending bill passed by Congress early Friday and averted a government shutdown. In a morning tweet, Trump said he might veto the omnibus bill because it does nothing to address the fate of young undocumented immigrants known as “dreamers” and does not fully fund his border wall. But speaking to reporters at the White House about four hours later, Trump said he had decided to sign the bill despite his reservations, arguing that it provides much-needed funding for the military, including a pay increase for troops and new equipment.Just hours after threatening a veto, President Trump said Friday afternoon that he had signed the sweeping $1.3 trillion spending bill passed by Congress early Friday and averted a government shutdown.

The only one I saw objecting to having less than 24 hours to read the bill was Rand Paul.

I certainly don’t care for Rand Paul, but he was correct on his disagreement and fight against it.

I’ve been playing their stupid game for decades. I always vote the stupid Republican because he’s always better than the stupid Democrat. But the stupid Republicans never give me what I want. Win or lose, I always get the same stupid thing.

I just figured out who the REALLY stupid person is: it’s me.

Give me the wall or give me Democrats on trial. One or both of these things comes FIRST. My vote is contingent.

The last time, people said he didn’t have the wall and the budget was large, because it was Obama’s last budget. Now people are making excuses with this budget.

All Trump has to do is start a Go Fund Me page for the Wall.

The Wall is going to happen.

That’s playing in to the enemies hands. You are right where they want you, hating Trump just like they do.

Yes he could have exercised the veto. But he would have caved later and looked even more pathetic. Now he will claim a win on military spending. It’s BS but that’s his spin. He’s a politician you know.

Seriously?

How about this: Trump should have kept fighting and veto'd the bill. If Congress overrode the veto then at least he could say he tried. But he didn't do that. He didn't try that route. He gave up. Trump gave up first.

This was a bad, bad mistake.

In other words we should just lay back and enjoy it.

How about finally growing up and realizing the system forces even the most principled men to compromise.

A lot has been accomplished in 14 months and I have doubt a lot more will be by Trump.

He had a choice and he made the wrong decision.

He went back up the escalator... emasculated.

Sad, disappointing.
