Former Clinton pollster Mark Penn weighed in on Pennsylvanias 16th congressional district special election result, crediting Rep.-elect Conor Lambs (D-PA) victory to the candidate going against the far left like Nancy Pelosi.
[A]fter so much talk that the party was moving to Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders [the special Pennsylvania congressional election] really reaffirms the power of a centrist Democrat, Penn told New York AM 970 radios The Cats Roundtable host John Catsimatidis. I mean, Conor Lamb really took a lot of centrist positions. He backed a lot of what President Trump was saying. And he came out explicitly against Nancy Pelosi.
He continued, So, for me, the lesson was not so much Democrat or Republican as centrism over extreme left or right.
I dont think that lesson will be learned from one election. But if theres any message, we should never forget this is a centrist country. And whoever owns the center wins. And whoever really goes too far to the right or too far to the left invariably, eventually loses.

He came out with most of Trumps policies. He is also younger. The reality is that they ran on being just like Trump but different and nicer looking.
I think when he starts voting he will become less popular.
Interesting take. Of course, he also lied about abortion, which is very very Pelosi. Thanks ChicagoConservative27.
Exactly. Just as all the anti-abortion Ble Dog 'Rats fell in line for ObamaCare, he'll knuckle under to party discipline. His campaign positions were a fraud on the voters.
Oh man, that comment could not be any more true!
Lamb said what he needed to say in order to win this otherwise conservative District. Once in DC he will be a Pelosi rubber stamp. Im just surprised at how many voters fell for it.
If he starts a trend that ends Nancys reign of terror, they would just replace her with someone worse.
So, will the strategy for 2018 be to run against Pelosi, then re-elect her as Speaker if they would win the House?
May be wrong on this, but I think this election was just to fill the seat till November when the same 2 candidates will run again.
Any clarifications/correction appreciated.
If true the news media likes to leave out these little clarifiers as there is no guarantee that he will win again with the margin being so slim and the potential it could get even tighter or overturned.
These local elections have nothing to do with Nancy Pelosi. They are local. The GOP had a dud candidate and the Dem ran as a conservative pro-gun Republican and was telegenic.
Lamb will be kissing Palosis ass on his first day in DC, guaranteed
Gee, I can remember when Obama was touted as a “centrist”. That worked out just fine. /s
I think this is the key. They can’t keep sticking these old, uninteresting coots out there.
PA is in the process of redistricting. That district, as it exists today, is expected to change significantly. At this point, it’s hard to know who will be running and where.
I call PURE BS on this!
Lamb is a FRAUD who LIED to win an election.
When he gets to DC he will vote as the LEFTIST he is.
BOOK it.
Pennsylvanians have been watching this exact same thing with Bob Casey for over a decade. I’m afraid our voters are just dumb.
They can be voted out
Only in moron district like Ca NJ NY etc
PA my home state. Is notoriously swing
PHILLY screws up nTional contests
Thanks. the MSM just focuses on the “ flash of today” and not what this means when the real election takes place.
